Giving this a solid 4.5 stars! The only reason I’m not giving a full 5 is that the atmosphere isn’t quite at the same level as the food—but don’t let that first impression fool you.

Upon entering, we were greeted with genuine warmth and soul. The mother-daughter duo running this quaint spot are a rare find; they make you feel instantly at home. Their passion is infectious, and their hospitality can turn a sour mood into a refreshed one in minutes. It’s the kind of place that makes you wish you lived right next door.
The Food
The passion in the kitchen translates directly to the plate. This is the high-quality, “homemade” Chinese food you always crave but rarely find.
Appetizers: The scratch-made egg rolls are plump, delicious, and packed with shrimp or chicken. The Crab Rangoons are easily the most unique I’ve ever tasted—stuffed with way more than just cream cheese. I highly recommend trying all four savory varieties!
The Surprise: Don’t skip the Dessert Crab Rangoons. There are three types, and they are surprisingly fantastic.
The Main Course: I ordered the General Tso’s—my personal litmus test for American-style Chinese. The chicken was juicy and tender with a perfect breading; it’s properly fried, not airy or squishy. My wife had the House Lo Mein, which was finally a version that wasn’t bland! It was packed with fresh veggies and meats.

This is genuinely the best takeout I’ve ever had. The egg foo young was amazing, all the different kinds of rangoons were awesome, and the sesame chicken was super crispy and great. Also, the service was great. Had a great conversation with the lady working and mama Annie was so fun to watch as she worked her magic in the kitchen. Will definitely be back soon.

I ordered the Chicken lo mein, Hot & sour soup, Chicken egg foo young, Chicken egg rolls and The dessert ragoons. The soup was thick like gravy, and it didn’t taste anything like hot and sour soup. The Egg foo young was very disappointing the sauce you pour on it had a vinegar taste. The lo mein was ok.

This was a wonderful surprise. I never got the chance to try this place even if I saw it often. It’s so delicious! The restaurant itself was so pleasant to visit. But the food impressed me most! I never really found a Chinese place I really loved in KC but Tao Tao but so yummy. Even the smell of the spices while taking it home in the car was great. The chicken and rice both had perfect texture and the flavor of the sauce has me excited to try more from here. I haven’t really left reviews often, but this was just so good I had to! My boyfriend and I went at random, but what a lovely surprise! The food tastes so great, I don’t think anyone looking for good Chinese food will be disappointed.

This place feels like home! Many locals frequent this historic restaurant (been around with the same owner since the late 1970s) and refer to the woman owner as “Ma.” Ma is very attentive to customers and what is ordered and make sure they you are pleased with the quality of food that you receive. To me, that’s an A+ in hospitality alone. I ordered the Combo meat Egg Foo Young with spicy gravy and the Springfield Cashew Chicken with shrimp egg rolls. Everything was truly delicious and I had enough food to continue to eat the following day. By far, the most unique and pleasant Chinese restaurant in the area!

Fantastic Crab Rangoons in multiple flavors including yummy desert choices, Szechuan Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Beef with Vegetables. Everything we had was excellent, expertly seasoned, and very generous portions, so we had leftovers that we enjoyed for several days.
The setting is simple which I think is wonderful. You are paying for superior quality food instead of fancy ambiance.
