Save room (or not) for dessert. The Cobbler w/ Ice Cream and the Buttermilk Pecan Pie are not to miss; something special indeed!!
Bring the fam and have an enjoyable celebration of food….
The atmosphere just reminds everyone of their grandma’s house.
Amazing, especially for birthdays 🙂
I hadn’t been there in over 20 years, but told my wife many times about the memories, including my dad telling us a particular ghost story of a nearby house in which he had a personal experience and would always tease me and my sisters by driving down the long private drive until we were squealing to turn around (to be fair – we always begged him to take us there, but would get cold feet the closer we got). I always said we have to remember to go there when we have the time for one of our nights eating out. It’s a bit of a drive for us, so it wasn’t always top of mind or exactly convenient when we were going out for dinner. Recently, we wanted to go out to eat somewhere different than our normal options and go-to spots, and I got so excited when I remembered Tanglewood!
Needless to say, it was exactly as I remembered. Such a nostalgic experience that brought back so many wonderful memories. The down home country charm and delicious Sunday supper are well worth the drive, and now I’m thrilled my wife also can’t wait to go back. I definitely recommend going with the full family style meal for parties of 2 or more. Thank you for maintaining the quality and experience that I can now share with others!
We had Fried Chicken, BBQ, Corn Bread, Biscuits, Green Beans, Cole Slaw, Mixed Greens, Carrots, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy!! The food had good depth of flavor, without being overly salty, or greasy, the chicken was crispy well cooked without being dry, the veggies were well seasoned, and the desserts were delicious – a perfect ending to the meal (but do yourself a favor and try the Buttermilk Pecan Pie) My wife a self proclaimed Pecan Pie Snob, would make the drive just for the Pie!!
The staff were friendly, helpful, warm and welcoming, explaining how it all worked, and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed every bite, but there was more we could have chosen from, and the menu changes on the weekends! Things like Pot Roast, homemade Mac & Cheese… Oh my gosh… We must come back!!!
If you haven’t tried it, make a reservation, and enjoy the drive.
Limited drink selection with meal.
Our group planner brought cake to celebrate a birthday. TOrdinary gracefully served everyone at our table with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
