Do not come here expecting anything to be quick. 5 of us came in at 630. We were told it would be a 50 minute wait, and decided to wait and get seated. There was one other group waiting, and what was supposedly 50 min was less than 10 min. I thought this was great! We sat down at 645, and we were waiting another 10 minutes before the drinks were ordered. I normally don’t mind if things are jamming and there’s a wait, so I didn’t think anything of it. The waitress came by with the water after another 10, and I asked if she could take our order at that point. About 15 minutes after that, three of the four beers were delivered by people other than the waitress and I was waiting on my rise and shine to come out. We didn’t see the waitress again until about 15 minutes later, when she said our food would be out shortly. Mind you, she was busting her butt bussing tables. I do not blame the waitress. At 7:35, our food came out. The food was fine. The tomato bisque was good, just a little spicy. The chicken cavatappi is tasty, I do wish there was more of the vegetables. Soup and chili did not come with spoons; we had to ask for spoons each time. I asked about my beer when the waitress came by after the food was dropped off, and she went to go check where it was at. It turned out it was sold out and not available. We were all done eating at about 7:45 (servings sizes aren’t large, especially for the price). The place started clearing out, and at around 8:15 the waitress came to check us out. It was a slow meal. We had fun because of the good company, but all of us agree- we won’t be getting tangled up in those roots again.

Tangled Roots was a great experience overall. The gluten-free options are honestly really good, which is hard to find sometimes, and they clearly put effort into making sure gluten-free doesn’t feel like an afterthought. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was super chill and enjoyable. It is on the pricey side, but the quality of the food and the experience make it worth it. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.

First time going to tangled roots today with a big group of 10 and the customer service was incredible! Our waitstaff was running all over for our table and the other busy tables around us. They accommodated us quickly and with our reservation we were quickly seated. My only complaint is the food. Half of the 10 orders were cold/lukewarm at best, like maybe they were sitting back there while the other half still needed time to cook and that’s fine, logistics I’m sure they are trying to work out. Will update when we try it again!
Update: when back again today around 2:00 p.m. with my husband and the food was AMAZING! When I tell you this burger was literally the best burger I’ve had in a really long time. The customer service was incredible and the beer was quite yummy! My husband and I will definitely be back!!!
I’ve gone back a few more times after that last visit and I think have gone seven times total now and each time has been different! Sometimes service is great and the food is great and sometimes service is lacking and food quality as well. Each time has been inconsistent.

Very disappointed in the visit. We had a reservation. They were actively seating walk ins in front of us. Once we were seated after 20 minutes and no one coming to our, we asked who our servers was. We ordered drinks and had to ask multiple times to get all of our drinks. 2 hours in we finally got our food. They brought appetizers and Main choices at the same time. All the food arrived at room temperature. Nothing was hot! For food and drinks (2 people) it was $70. Very disappointed. I don’t see a need to go back anytime soon.

We’ve been to Tangled Roots three times for dinner and everything has been EXCELLENT! We’ve not had any problems always great service, drinks and food! They also have a nice selection on their menu…We’ve had something different each time and the food has always been hot and delicious! Elisha was our server this evening and she’s so friendly and helpful! We have lived in Washington for over 25 years and we are originally from the Peoria area. We are also a retired military family and we’ve never had any regrets moving back to Washington. Even with going through the 2013 tornado and rebuilding. We love Washington and hope Tangled Roots is here to stay. We plan to return and hope others can come and enjoy their food. Keep up the hard work! ❤️

Opening day and they had incredible service. Our waitress was spot on all night. We stayed for a while to enjoy different drinks and try appetizers. The beers were all very good with selections of all kinds. Also had a wide selection of signature cocktails. They have reasonable priced packaged beer as well to take home. Food was very good and very quick service once ordered as well. Very impressed for being the opening night they were attentive and provided a great experience.

What a surprise to eat in a modern eatery in a sleepy little town! This restaurant reminds me of a college town gathering and we are a bit away from Eureka college, so very surprised that this place landed here. And wow, the food was exceptional. Susan, the waitress, steered us right to have the pork nachos. The chips for those nachos were amazing. And we capped the evening off with the cookie in a skillet with ice cream—chef’s kiss! What a find! Definitely worth the drive!

Great atmosphere, friendly service, and fantastic food. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. We tried Grandma’s biscuits and spread along with the pimento dip (recommended by the waitress) as appetizers. They were phenomenal. For our meal, we had the pulled pork grilled cheese and the Nashville chicken sandwich. I don’t eat leftovers much, but I finished mine later that night!

Tangled Roots in Washington is a fantastic addition to Washington Square! The beer selection was outstanding — every pint was fresh and flavorful. We had the pretzel appetizer, and it was absolutely delicious, highly recommended. The whole place was vibing with a lively, welcoming atmosphere. Great service, great vibe, and great food and drinks — can’t wait to go back!
