My husband and I recently visited this Indian restaurant in Mobile, Alabama. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, and my husband chose the Chicken Fried Rice. I’d like to start on a positive note: my husband really enjoyed his meal. The chicken fried rice was tasty, well-prepared, and satisfying overall.

However, my own experience was more mixed. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, and considering that I eat Indian food very frequently and have tried it in many countries, including India, Nepal, Singapore, Turkey, and various cities across the United States, I had higher expectations for a restaurant-style biryani.

One issue that stood out immediately was the service. When the food arrived, the server didn’t know which dish was which. I asked her which plate was the Chicken Biryani and which was the Chicken Fried Rice, and she honestly said that she didn’t know. This was a bit surprising and took away from the dining experience.

As for the food itself, the presentation of the biryani was quite disappointing. It didn’t look like a professionally plated restaurant dish and felt more like a simple homemade meal, without any attention to visual presentation. In addition, there was a very large amount of fried onions, which overpowered the overall flavor and wasn’t to my taste.

Another concern was that I kept biting into small hard pieces while eating. I couldn’t tell if they were tiny chicken bones or some kind of seasoning, but either way, it made the dish less enjoyable.

On a positive note, the restaurant was playing Indian music, which I really loved and felt added a nice cultural atmosphere to the space.

Overall, while there were some positives, my personal experience was average. For that reason, I would give this restaurant 3 out of 5 stars. With improvements in service, presentation, and biryani quality, it has the potential to be much better.

Tandoor hands down serves some of the best Indian dishes in town! Their garlic naan is absolute perfection and pairs well with any of their saucy or curry dishes. Their onion pakora and chicken tandoori was particularly flavorful and some of the best I’ve ever tried. This is my new go to Indian spot in town and I highly recommend!

The restaurant serves delicious and warm food.
The price is very reasonable and not overly pricey.
We were there for lunch and buffet was great.
The service was great.
It’s not a romantic or upscale restaurant. If you’re hungry and carving for Indian food this is the place.

The food was good. There is definitely room for improvement. For example, the oil used to prepare the dishes seems to be of moderate quality. Malai kofta was prepared well. The staff were courteous.

Smelled the food before I even walked in! Friendly service at the door. I ended up getting the Chicken Marsala with the garlic Naan.

I am new to town and have tried so many restaurants here. Most are honestly a flop. But Tandoor and Jamaican Vibes are the best so far. I have been to Tandoor so many times since I first found them. I’ve always used DoorDash. Their food has been delicious every single time. I get the garlic cheese naan with either the tandoori chicken or butter chicken masala. Simply delicious. The only downside is that it is very expensive. However, it is consistently good. The bread is always fresh. The food is always hot when I eat it. I’ve tried other Indian restaurants in town and they were ok. But tandoor is it. Good job.

We had a very disappointing experience at this buffet, with multiple issues from start to finish.

To begin with, the price of the buffet did not reflect the quality or service provided. Several plates had an unpleasant smell, which immediately raised concerns about cleanliness. The service throughout was poor. When buffet trays were empty and we politely asked for refills, the staff member or chef responsible reacted with visible anger and arrogance, which was extremely unprofessional.

The most disturbing incident occurred during billing. At the start, we mistakenly mentioned that our group had 20 people. Later, we realized one person had not arrived, so we correctly informed the staff that our group was actually 19. In response, the staff member rudely asked if we had “kept one person in the washroom.” This comment was shocking, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. We were taken aback and did not even know how to respond.

Overall, the lack of basic courtesy, poor hygiene, and inappropriate behavior from staff made this an experience we will not repeat. This establishment needs serious improvement in customer service, professionalism, and respect toward guests.

Ordered delivery through uber eats. The roti was requested to be made without oil or butter but had butter dripping from it.
Channa masala had so much oil that the plastic cover had oil inside it and was inedible
Saag paneer was bland and was laden with cream. The food was entirely inedible and very disappointing considering the prices and no requests were honored.
