This was my very first time trying Indian food, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I went with a good friend who guided me through the menu and helped me choose dishes that were flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy. The owner was also incredibly kind and took the time to make sure I had a great introduction to Indian cuisine.
The food itself was amazing—every dish was rich, balanced, and full of flavor. It gave me the chance to really enjoy something new without feeling intimidated. The service was just as impressive. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and genuinely wanted me to enjoy my meal.
The restaurant itself was spotless, comfortable, and welcoming. The atmosphere made me feel relaxed and set the tone for an unforgettable first experience with Indian food.
If you’ve never tried Indian food before, I highly recommend Tandoor India Restaurant. They’ll take great care of you, guide you through the menu, and make sure you walk away with a full stomach and a smile. I’ll definitely be back.

Absolute BEST Indian food in the area! Super freshly cooked and the food is so aromatic. We had the chicken tikka masala and goat karahi – both were super flavorful and the meat is very tender. The sauce also doesn’t taste sweet like some Indian food tends to make their masala. The naan bread was also amazing! The portions are decent and we had plenty plus leftovers. Singh was very kind and attentive to us! Will definitely be back.

After many years of visiting our favorite local Indian restaurant, Tandoor India in a nearly abandoned shopping center, we finally made it over to their new space in Oakhurst. The new space, while clean and comfortable, is a bit spare in design (thus the 3 rating for atmosphere), but the outstanding food and gracious service more than makes up for the surroundings. Added Bonus: they are a BYOB: so bring a bottle!

Just had a wonderful dinner here! Balwinder was very friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and delicious. We got the Samosas, Tandoori Chicken, and the Fried Paneer to start. The Samosas were my favorite. I couldn’t get enough of the red onions and brown sauce served with it. For mains, I got the Chicken Makhani, and it was absolutely delicious! The spices were delicious and the sauce was so creamy. Paired with the rice and garlic naan, it was the perfect comfort food! My boyfriend got the Chicken Vindaloo, and he loved it. What I really appreciate about this restaurant is that it does not use any oil in any of the cooking. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back!

5 Stars! Tandoor India’s New Oakhurst Location is a Culinary Gem!
Tandoor India’s new spot in a bustling plaza on Route 35 in Oakhurst, NJ, is a fantastic upgrade from their old location, where my wife and I were regulars. The vibrant atmosphere and convenient location make it a perfect stop for authentic Indian cuisine. My wife’s favorite veggie samosas are crispy, perfectly spiced, and never greasy—a must-have starter. Her go-to Chicken Tikka Masala is rich, creamy, with tender chicken and just the right medium-spice kick. I ordered the Boti Kebab, and it was phenomenal—tender lamb cubes, beautifully marinated, with that smoky tandoori flavor. The warm, fluffy naan is ideal for savoring every bit of sauce, and portions are generous enough for leftovers.
The owner himself waited on us, and his passion and attentiveness made the experience truly special, offering great menu suggestions and making us feel like family. The prices are reasonable for such fresh, high-quality dishes. If you’re in the Jersey Shore area, Tandoor India is a must for incredible Indian food. We’re already excited for our next visit! Highly recommend!

Wonderful family recipes. Consistently delicious every time with the kindest and friendliest host. Went to their old location for at least 15 years and love the new location too! The Chicken Vindaloo is always big tender breast meat, the Alu Mutter with plenty of peas, both are perfectly spiced and the Samosas are huge!

This has been a Mom & Pop operation for over 30 years. We used to love this restaurant when it was in the old location. Then we tried other places in the area (there’s inly a couple.) IMO, this Mom is a better cook than other Indian cooks around the area. More popular now since the recent move to the new location at Rt 35 & West Park Ave. There was a stream of pick up orders while we dined in the smallish, simple dining room. Not fancy at all here. Excellent quality ingredients served up by very nice people. BYOB.

We have gotten take out and eaten at this establishment for years at the old location; the food has and continues to be delicious! Fluffy naan, delicious sauces, ample chunks of juicy meats. Everything cooked to perfection and the owner told us at the end that he doesn’t use oil which must be one of the secrets. Very good!
