Tananan is an absolute gem! The food is genuinely delicious and tasty. I’ll especially recommend the Indo-Chinese dishes. It’s rare to find them done this well in Reading.

Mr. Bhawani made the experience even better. He’s always smiling, soft spoken and extremely helpful. The place is also fantastic value for money. Generous portions, great taste and fair prices.

We loved it so much that we have placed an order here for our upcoming party.

The food quality at this restaurant is excellent. The staff are passionate, attentive, and genuinely connected with their customers, always striving to offer the best service. Overall, it was a great experience. Although the atmosphere felt a bit mediocre, the visit was still very pleasant thanks to the outstanding food and service.

The restaurant was very busy, which shows how popular it is. We ordered both starters and mains, and everything was prepared beautifully. The food was excellent!

I especially loved the Gobi Manchurian, Rara Gosht, and the special lamb – all were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The service was also great, and the team made sure we had a wonderful dining experience.

Thank you to the team at Tanatan! We will definitely be visiting again.

If you’re looking for a place that nails both the food and the vibe, Tanatan is it! From the moment you walk in, the quirky decor and those iconic copper bells set a fantastic mood.

We tried the fusion starters and the signature Butter Chicken—the balance of traditional spices with a modern twist was spot on. It’s the perfect spot for a celebration or a fun night out with friends. Great service, delicious food, and even better vibes. Highly recommended!”

Absolutely the best food and service in town, highly recommended! Bhavani, who served us, is truly a gem and an asset to the restaurant. I would happily return time and time again. This is hands down the best Indian restaurant in Reading. The service is exceptional, the staff are warm and courteous, and the ambiance offers a welcoming, homely feel. A wonderful dining experience all around!

Yesterday we enjoyed an amazing meal at Tanatan. It was my first time visiting, and both the food and service truly impressed me. The restaurant was quite busy while we were there, but the staff still made us feel very welcome and happy.

We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Tanatan Dal, and a spicy paneer starter (I forgot the exact name), and everything was delicious. The spicy paneer dish was my absolute favorite!

Very happy with the experience and looking forward to visiting again. Thank you!

Very unpleasant experience on a very special day. We have always loved their food but dine in experience was the worst. Booked a table with valentine menu, once seated we were told it wasn’t available. Drinks were served after 20 mins. Had ordered orange juice for my little one, was told after 15 mins that it’s not available and was then served some fizzy lemon drink even after saying we wanted still drink. No starters were served even after an hour. Meanwhile we did see at least 5 to 8 deliveries being done! Fed up we finally asked to pack our food to take out after waiting for over 1.5 hrs.
We have no complaints with the person attending us. Anu was pleasant and apologetic throughout and to be honest did her best. It was the overall mismanagement that ticked us off.
We still love their food and would order take away but might never visit again.

Today we went to Test of Tanatan and had a great experience. The Chicken Chilli and Chicken Biryani were delicious, and the Gongura Dal was the highlight. Excellent service and courteous staff made it even better. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, wasn’t as tasty as it should have been! The waters for the pani puri needed far more punch and flavour. Cassava fries needed more spice and salt and were dry. Sheek kebabs and lamb chops were nice. Signature naan were too thin and crispy. The chaat again needed more flavourful waters with them and the yoghurt had a weird grainy and watery texture. Lamb curry was good, the best dish of the night. Unfortunately the prawn mangalorian curry was a huge disappointment, tiny prawns and a sauce extremely lacking in flavour. Was worth a try but the lacklustre food combined with only one waiting staff lead to a slow service. Such a shame!

The food at Tanatan was really tasty: we had a selection of chaats to start, and these were all delicious (my mother-in-law hadn’t eaten chaat before, and she loved it). I went for Special Lamb as this was recommended in reviews, and we also ordered the Mixed Vegetables, Gongura Lamb, Saag Aloo, and paratha for mains. The spices were really well judged, the service was excellent, and the cost was reasonable. We will definitely be back!
