Certainly the best Mexican food in Leavenworth area. Service is always good with polite staff. Food is of good value for $. Atmosphere is good, it always gives me nostalgia of when I lived in Arizona and a Mexican restaurant in Tuscan would pull the tables away at 2100 and start playing in very enjoyable background music louder for enjoyable dancing.
Little touches could make it better. If ordering a spicy dish, a grilled jalapeño to ensure I get my spice fix would be great. More sauce to counter the dryness of bigger chunks of meat. Corn tortillas were warm but didn’t taste freshly made. I can take flour tortillas fresh or not, but have an expectation of fresh corn tortillas.

Ate here for first time tonight. The salsa is not best I ever had but was good. Carne Asada was very good. Came with rice & refried beans. They offer military discount. Overall a great atmosphere and service! Loved the Christmas decor as well!

Lunch special today was pollo asado. Wow it was amazing. Very tender, flavorful and the service was outstanding and quick. I would definitely recommend. We will for sure go back. Unfortunately I had already cut the chicken before I took the photo. I couldn’t help it, the food was amazing! By the way, the tortilla chips were served warm and the salsa was great as well.

We opted for Tampico based on others’ reviews, and we were certainly pleased with our choice..
Nestled into historic, downtown Leavenworth, and within walking distance of at least two hotels, Tampico lives up to their mission and vision statements that are included inside their menu..
We were seated and greeted reasonably quickly, and we decided to sample their two for one house margaritas.. The drinks were wonderfully refreshing and had a great balance between whatever tequila and other ingredients were used to assemble them.. We were off to a great start..
The thin and crispy chips were accompanied by a slightly spicy but smooth salsa, and we selected the small queso, too.. The starters were fantastic!!
My wife selected the chicken fajitas and was abundantly pleased.. I was drawn to the spicy chicken chimichanga and didn’t regret my choice at all..
I will just say that Mexican fare is something we try nearly everywhere we go.. We found Tampico to be very good, high quality, and the service was spot on.. Aurora was very attentive over the course of our visit, and we never wanted (or waited) for anything..
10 out of 10 recommend for a solid Mexican-fare experience in historic downtown Leavenworth!!

August 5 visit. This place was right across the street from our hotel so it was nice to not need to drive to dinner with our four kids.
We were immediately seated and drinks were out quickly. I ordered shrimp tacos and my husband ordered a shrimp chimichanga. The kids ordered typical kid food, lol. The sauce for my tacos could seriously be bottled and sold for millions of dollars. I don’t know what’s in it but it’s amazing!
Everyone loved their meals. I also had a blueberry margarita and my husband tried the raspberry margarita. They were both good but we agreed the raspberry was best.
I love the laid back atmosphere here and the staff seems to enjoy working here. They also looked fully staffed which seems rare these days at restaurants struggling to keep employees on hand. This place seemed anything but struggling. It was a nice breath of fresh air to dine here.

The menu is good, with a great variety and selection. It was busy, but we were seated in a reasonable amount of time. We were at a table near the kitchen so as wait staff scurried past us the floor bounced. The food was good.

We were very happy with the food and our kids thought it was very yummy. I had the tamales and thought they were super good but we also got chile relleno and it was watery which was weird. I would not order it again. Aside from the queso is a white queso and it was good, salsa was nice, chips are hot, enchiladas were yummy and my son got the burrito and loved it. We did have to wait a long time for our check which normally is no bid deal but with little kids who have been sitting good for an hour they start to get antsy. Overall the place was clean and our little boy was sad bc he wanted a margarita like mom and dad so our waitress brought him lemonade in a margarita glass and he even got a lime and he was soooo excited. Which was soooo kind!!!

Wow! The food was super good. I can see why this place has such high reviews. Additionally the atmosphere was bright and colorful. The wait staff was also incredible except for one small infraction. The chicken chimichanga was a tad bit spicy ️ for my wife who is basically spice intolerant. The waitress assured her it wasn’t. I had a bite -it wasn’t spicy lol. But, if you’re spice intolerant, don’t go to good Mexican restaurants! Still five stars
