Cozy Italian gem. Warm and welcoming. The bartender crafted us some great drinks and the food was great. Flavorful, tasty and plentiful. The prices were reasonable which is a rarity these days. I had a perfectly cooked sole with tomatoes and capers over orzo while my husband indulged in a colossal pork chop with peppers and the best mashed potatoes- and I usually don’t even like mashed potatoes!! The girls serving us were all sweet, smiley and attentive. Even the owner came over to say hi and chat creating a real sense of community which is so nice. This neighborhood spot is a true treasure , and we will definitely be back.

Mid December, we discovered Tambascio’s Italian grill as it was listed as one of the top Italian restaurants in Fairfield County based on customer reviews and decided to try it out for a birthday dinner.

We have to say that it did not disappoint. It reminded us of an old school Italian family restaurant with great classics and specials. The food had great flavor, fresh ingredients and was prepared rather quickly (Chicken & Gnocchi special, Veal Parmesan & Frutti Di Mare). We enjoyed it with some glasses of their house Chianti, which we recommend. The rolls are fresh baked, and we also added on the house salad with their house vinaigrette, which is really good. Being that it was a birthday celebration, they brought over a slice of Lemon Cello cake and sang Happy Birthday.

We thought the service was a little slow at first but it’s a very relaxed, intimate setting. The owner John came over to introduce himself and he was very pleasant. It was great speaking with him and you can see he has a love of cooking Italian cuisine. He even offered us some Lemon Cello that he made, which was great.

Overall, great experience with great food and we plan on going back soon.

Tambascio’s is a classic American-Italian neighborhood spot that delivers big, hearty portions at a fair price. The food is consistently satisfying and comforting, exactly what you want from traditional Italian/American dishes done right. Drinks are generous and well mixed, which only adds to the experience. What really sets the place apart, though, is the atmosphere — owner John makes a point of making guests feel genuinely appreciated, giving the restaurant a warm, welcoming feel that keeps people coming back.

I never leave reviews but this is deserving of what I got.
One of the worst meals ever.
The potatoes were so salty they were inedible. They effected the whole meal.
Also we ordered goat cheese for the salads and got blue cheese put inside a dressing container. Again not what I ordered and couldn’t even use the dressing because they put it in the dressing. Weird.
Again another dish the pasta was so over cooked it feel apart in the container.
Calamari was so chewy.
When I called all I got was sorry.
Very disappointed.
I paid good money for inedible food.

Food was good, especially the eggplant parmigiana! Pick up order wasn’t ready yet so went back to the car to wait and was planning to go back in once ready, but staff brought it out to us, which was very nice and unexpected.

The food was well prepared and served hot. It was excellent. The service was horrendous. It took 20 minutes for the manager to assign a waitress to our table. She seemed familiar with the menu and took our order and then disappeared. We had to ask for bread we had to ask for water, and when my wife who had pizza ask for a box to take it home we were given a dirty box with toilet paper on the bottom and it obviously been used before.

Bread was served without butter, we had to ask for butter. The waitress would’ve offered to do things, and then forget. It was probably the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in many years.

I wish I had something positive to say about the service. We asked to speak to the owner and were told that he was not in and the manager could not call him. She asked for my name and my phone number which I provided but I have yet to hear from him.

Unless and until this restaurant hires professional, wait staff, I would stay away. It’s not worth the aggravation.

We celebrated my daughter’s birthday at Tambascio’s Restaurant in Newtown, CT, and it was amazing! The owner was super friendly, the staff was attentive, and the service was excellent from start to finish. The Italian food was fresh and delicious, portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. The family-friendly atmosphere and warm ambiance made it the perfect place for our celebration. If you’re looking for the best Italian restaurant in Newtown CT with great food, great service, and a welcoming vibe, I highly recommend Tambascio’s!

A great Italian/American restaurant with a real “family” feel, both with the owners as well as with the customers. Great food, great portions, great value for the price. It feels just a tad crowded when it’s full and can be a little noisy but overall it’s a great value and a friendly place.

Me and my family were traveling from NY looking for a place to eat late night on the road and didn’t realize they were closing shorty until we were seated however, the staff were very hospitable and kind & never brought it up. We apologized for the inconvenience when we realized & our waitress reassured us and made us feel very welcomed and not rushed. The food was so good, we all loved our meals, very well cooked! 10/10 food & 10/10 service and very kind staff with a cozy atmosphere. Thank you again!
