I would recommend getting a reservation, so you can skip the waiting time (it’s usually busy).
It has been a while since I last visited, so the menu may have changed slightly, but based on what I ordered before, everything was consistently delicious and thoughtfully prepared. This place tends to get packed, so I recommend making reservations ahead of time.
• Sashimi “7” Sampler
Includes maguro, sockeye salmon, Atlantic salmon, tako, hotate, hamachi, and ebi. Everything was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. Absolutely worth the price! Highly recommended!
• Shokado Bento Box
A great way to sample a variety of appetizers. My personal favorites were the uni shooter, fried oyster, and tuna tatsuta. All were delicious!
• Dan Dan Ramen
Rich and flavorful.
• Spider Bao (HH)
Fried soft-shell crab with teriyaki and black pepper aioli. Decent, though slightly over-fried for me.
• Saba-O (HH)
Sweet miso–marinated fried mackerel in a bun — flavorful, unique, and highly recommended!
• Aburi-Tamari Bar Sushi Roll (HH)
A fantastic happy hour deal! Seared fish topped with miso aioli, jalapeño, tobiko, and sesame soy dressing. Fresh and flavorful. Definitely recommended.
• Desserts: Panna Cotta + Kurogoma, Matcha Crème Brûlée, Hoji-Tea Flan
All were well executed and not overly sweet. You really can’t go wrong with any of them.
Even though it’s been some time since my last visit, Tamari Bar left a strong impression. The food was excellent, the service was attentive, and the overall experience was memorable. Definitely worth checking out!
We were lucky enough to snag seats at the bar and I cannot stress this enough: make a reservation. Watching the choreography behind the bar is half the pleasure. The energy is upbeat, social, and unmistakably celebratory. This is sushi with swagger.
Our bartender was one of those rare professionals who actually listens. He steered us through the menu with precision and enthusiasm, and he was absolutely right about everything. Trust the staff here. They know what they’re doing.
The drink program deserves its own applause. An excellent selection of sakes and beers, thoughtfully curated and well-balanced, alongside standout cocktails that feel purpose-built for the food. One highlight was the Hi-Tori: a Toki Highball or chu-hi served with three pieces of their signature fried chicken. Crisp, juicy, and deeply satisfying, it’s playful, indulgent, and exactly the kind of pairing that makes sense once you try it.
This was an elevated sushi experience that still knows how to have a good time. The hand rolls arrive looking like the most decadent tacos you’ve ever seen. Crisp nori, warm rice, and fillings so fresh they practically vibrate. The yellowtail tuna belly with uni and unagi was an explosion of flavor: rich, briny, sweet, buttery, finished with that irresistible seaweed crunch. A perfect bite that doesn’t overthink itself.
The buta bao with braised pork belly glazed in a sweet balsamic soy sauce was deeply comforting, sticky, and indulgent in all the right ways.
Then there was The Best Bite and the name is not an exaggeration. Seared wagyu zabuton nigiri topped with uni, delicate yet decadent, melting into the rice like it had nowhere else to be. Rich without being heavy. Luxurious without being precious.
The Tamari Bar sushi roll itself was impossibly fresh, clean, and balanced, the kind of roll that reminds you why simplicity still matters when the ingredients are this good.
This is absolutely a party-leaning, happy, high-energy environment. Come here ready to eat, drink, laugh, and stay longer than planned. It’s the kind of place where one round turns into three, where you order “just one more” and mean it every time.
Tamari Bar doesn’t just serve sushi. It serves momentum.
All that to say, this place is awesome. If you like Japanese food, especially izakaya-style, you’ve got to check this place out.
