The best mole I have had in the US. Friendly, family-run restaurant with beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere.
The burritos were delicious and nicely portioned. The mole can be packed and sold; perfectly balanced the flavors and had the depth that comes from painstakingly nursing a family recipe.
A bit pricey but that’s Sedona for you. Great indoor and outdoor seating options.

Fabulous food made just how we want it. Organic, clean and flavorful. I chose to skip the black beans and rice on the taco plate. Then I saw a plate go by and wished I had ordered that too!
Fast and friendly service.
A great view!

Call me jaded, but my tastebuds said this was the best meal I had in Sedona. That being stated, I will admit I am partial to Mexican food, but the nuanced spicing and flavors were, to me, utterly fantastic. A previous review remarked that the portions were small, but like Goldilocks, I thought they were just right, not too much, not too little. We spoke with owners son, that stated that food starts with “love”, I believe that. Love that provides fresh ingredients, recipes handed down, meats slow cooked, sauces that have a depth of flavor, Im looking at you Mole sauce. While the interior space is small, the feeling once you here having a meal is “grande”, meaning big. Feels like your in someone’s home, being treated like a guest. Rustic seating and decor, offers that Mexico feel, vibrant colors, wooden chairs, and easy feel. My only regret is that I didn’t discover Tamaliza sooner, while not cheap eats, its not expensive considering Sedona, but that being said, its, in my opinion, worth every dollar spent. Well done, and thank you for being.

This restaurant is pretty popular at lunch on the weekends so it’s good to get there a bit early to beat the crowd.

Unfortunately the day I went they didn’t have any of the beef and onion tamale so we had to instead get two different kinds of chicken. One with mole and one with green sauce. The dishes were tasty, although not many spices evident other than salt) and a lot of food. I liked the mole more than the green sauce version.

If I went back I would get the tamales alone instead of the platter style because the big pile of raw spinach on top doesn’t seem to work.

I ordered the famous supreme tamale, veggie option and it was just delicious. Paired with a yummy horchata. Serving size is not typical Mexican restaurant style; however it was the perfect amount of food considering the nutrition content. Only suggestion would be to add rice or a side to allow the price to feel more balanced.

Tamaliza – The Best Tamales We’ve Ever Had!
We thought we knew what good tamales tasted like — but wow, Tamaliza completely changed the game! These are hands down the best tamales we’ve ever had. Most of the time, tamales can be a little dense, but at Tamaliza, they’re light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. You can taste the love and authenticity in every bite.
We ordered the Chicken Tamales and Chilaquiles, and both were incredible. The tamales were perfectly steamed, filled with tender, flavorful chicken, and topped with the right amount of sauce. The chilaquiles were fresh and full of flavor — comforting, colorful, and satisfying.
The restaurant itself has such a warm, welcoming vibe — colorful décor, friendly service, and food that feels homemade in the best way possible.
If you’re in Sedona, do yourself a favor and stop here. Tamaliza is a true gem — simple, authentic, and absolutely delicious.

This was the best food we ate during our nearly 5 days in Sedona! (Ironically, we found Tamaliza when passing through a few years ago, but didn’t realize it until we stepped onto the patio and remembered the view of the rocks.) Serendipity brought us back and we are so glad.
This food is made with love and care and you taste it in every bite. The chicken mole is incredible and maybe the best mole I’ve ever had. The beans and rice were also excellent. The tamale was perfectly seasoned and the texture of the masa was excellent. We loved the fresh ingredients on top also. Chips and salsa were also delicious. The horchata and tepache drinks were excellent.
Everything here is homemade and the prices are fair in reflection of that. The portions are generous and they do a great job of explaining all the options on the menu.
It was so refreshing to find a place like this in Sedona, where the scenery is excellent but the food scene is really not. Thank you, Tamaliza!

I really enjoy the vegan breakfast we had here. Very memorable experience. The views out the window kept me busy and the food kept my belly filled. Everything was fresh and delicious. We had the Vegan breakfast burrito and the vegan enchiladas.

Loved how we were welcomed as soon as we walked in and then seeing the lady making fresh tortillas got me excited! We ordered chicken mole solo tamale, green chicken solo tamale and a breakfast burrito with pork and nothing disappointed. Everything was well seasoned, not dry and overall just very tasty!

Blink and you’ll miss this place as you drive by. It’s a family run Mexican restaurant that is known for tamales. The limited menu focuses on fresh and natural ingredients and claims to be authentic.

Seating is somewhat limited but there was plenty of room on our visit. The restaurant was busy but not crowded. You order at a counter and pay before you receive your food which makes tipping seem pointless, but they ask you to do so anyway.

Portions here are very small for a Mexican restaurant and I think I ate the rice and beans that came with my burrito in about five bites. The burrito itself differentiates itself from most typical fare by including queso fresco and spinach which was a nice change.

My wife had a tamale which she said was very nice but also a bit small. She had a hibiscus tea with it which she liked, although it was pretty pricey at $7. The kids both had burritos, one chicken and one shredded beef. They both were happy with them but said it wasn’t as good as the one we had the day before. I thought it was a nice change from the typical Mexican food you normally get everywhere but the portion was pretty small for $22 and it was cold in the center. I know this is Sedona and they like to fleece the tourists but lunch for four for $105 is pretty egregious.

Anyway, the food tasted good and the outdoor seating had a nice view, but I’d like a bit more value for money and I’d like to get my food before anyone asks me for a tip.
