Diego is a great host and explains the food very well. I had the banana leaf wrapped chicken tamal, with elotes, a chocolate cake flan, and tamarind water.
The tamal has a corn base with the consistency of grits. The chicken was shredded and mixed with a savory red sauce. The chicken was in the middle of the corn base with sufficient red sauce to impart its flavor to the corn. It has a pleasant mouth feel as well as tasting great.
The elotes were properly cooked to give the corn a good texture and not mushy. The cheeses and seasonings made it an enjoyable side.
The desert was a flan with chocolate cake. The cake had a good amount of moisture and and stay together nicely. The flan custard was firm and complimented the cake.
Overall, definitely a place to try out.

If you’re craving authentic, soul-warming tamales, look no further than Tamales del Norte! this place is an absolute gem! Every tamal here is a masterpiece, perfectly soft, flavorful, and clearly made with love and tradition. I have tried everything and Norteños and Oaxaqueños tamal are the most comforting, and completely addictive. Tasted like my abuela’s kitchen during the holidays! Beyond the incredible food, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff treats you like family quick to offer a smile, a story, or an extra dollop of salsa verde. You can tell this is more than a restaurant; it’s a celebration of culture and community.
Prices are fair, portions are generous, and every bite feels homemade in the best possible way. Whether you’re dining in or taking a dozen to go, Tamales del Norte will leave you full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

I came across their LLC on Instagram, on there they posted their location and hours. Need to say, their location is 3700 W Stan Schlueter Loop, the Pet Supplies Plus. I drove 17 minutes to them only for them not to be there. I was really frustrated, as I drove with my toddlers. I went back on Instagram and last post they have up says that location Mon – Sunday. So then I start trying to find them elsewhere, and on FB they posted they’re elsewhere like 13min down the road. Why not link the accounts so people can know, when you post on one , it shares it on both accounts. Finally found them after like 30 mins of driving to find out THEY WERE NOT SELLING IN HALF DOZEN NOR DOZEN. Only a plate of 3 Tamales for $7. Another customer asked also for dozen and when they told him they weren’t selling them by the dozen he left. I purchased a plate to try them. Disappointed. They were slightly cold / room temperature and very very small / slim. Smallest Tamales I’ve had. They didn’t have any Tamales in Oja de Platano. Their corn in a cup was $7 , I threw it away. Worst one I’ve ever had. The cheese wasn’t even Cojita.. some other stuff. 100% disappointed. And there green salsa was super salty..

5/5 stars! I just tried Tamales del Norte for the first time and I’m hooked! The tamales were absolutely delicious, and the Mexican corn was a game-changer – I’ve never had anything like it before! The flavors and quality of the food were top-notch. Can’t wait to go back and try more! Love the food, love the place!”

I had high expectations for the tamales after seeing the reviews. The size of the tamales were thin. Tamales are supposed to be full of meat and thick. Also what really got to me was the smell of the corn husk. Oh my the smell was truly atrocious with all honesty. I’m not trying to be rude I’m just giving my honest opinion. Coming from someone who works hard for my money just to be wasted.

You guys have a bad batch of corn tamales. Your masa went sour. They smelled when I heated them up, thought it was just the banana leaf. No. It was a sour tamale. I hope my son and I don’t get sick.
The banana leaf tamale was delicious.

The banana leaf tamales tasted great, but the corn tamales tasted off. Not sure if it was a bad batch or weird ingredients. Also the “horchata” tasted sour/ spoiled. Extremely disappointed. Definitely not coming back.

We just purchased a dozen of each: red chicken, green chicken, and pork. The green and red chicken smell and taste sour. This was our second time there and most definitely our last. The was extremely thin and on top of that they are spoiled. I might as well have tossed my money out the window.
