Talk of the Town Bar | Crested Butte, CO.
Reviews
The bartenders here are absolute legends—super welcoming, quick with service, and they make you feel like part of the family right away. Drinks are cold, well-made, and reasonably priced (bonus points for serving them with a heavy hand).
The décor is half dive-bar, half mountain-town charm—think Christmas lights, a moose head decked out in tinsel, and walls full of local memorabilia. Even the bathroom pep talk (“Everything will be just fine… just breathe”) keeps the vibe lighthearted and fun.
This isn’t some polished, pretentious place—it’s AUTHENTIC, buzzing with energy, and full of locals and travelers swapping stories over beers and whiskey. The kind of bar where you sit down for one drink and end up staying for the night.
Bottom line: If you’re in Crested Butte, skip the fancy stuff and come here. Great drinks, great people, and an atmosphere that screams mountain-town soul!
Prices are reasonable for the area, and the bartenders are great
No customer should be made to feel the way I did. The energy of the place was tense, and it seemed like they didn’t care whether people were enjoying themselves or not. I honestly wouldn’t recommend this bar to anyone looking for a relaxed, enjoyable night out. There are far better options nearby where you’ll actually feel respected and valued.
Also drinks are overpriced and they water down their drinks. its terrible to pay so much money and get taken advantage of as a customer
On a prior visit, a bartender named Bruce behaved in a way I found openly hostile and unprofessional. My drink was poured out without explanation, service was refused, and my friends were deliberately ignored. No clear reason or policy violation was communicated.
After I calmly questioned the treatment, I was informed I was no longer welcome. From my perspective, this appeared to be a response to calling attention to how the situation was handled rather than any misconduct on my part.
What concerned me most occurred afterward. On a separate occasion, after being removed, I attempted to briefly re-enter only to locate my friends due to a personal emergency. I was without my phone, visibly distressed, and experiencing a panic attack. Staff refused to help in any way — they would not allow me to find my group, relay a message, or make even a minimal attempt to assist. I was left alone in town in a vulnerable state. The lack of basic human decency was alarming.
I am also a person of color, and based on repeated interactions here, I have consistently been made to feel unwelcome and unsafe in this space. This is especially troubling in a small town I consider home, where local businesses should foster community rather than exclusion. Whether intentional or not, the pattern of treatment I experienced left me feeling singled out and marginalized.
Additionally, I observed behavior from staff that felt inappropriate and unprofessional, including bartenders engaging in flirtatious, boundary-crossing interactions with my partner directly in front of me.
Based on my experience and conversations with others, this venue has developed a reputation among some patrons for selective and uneven treatment, particularly toward people of color. I can only speak for myself, but the pattern I encountered was deeply uncomfortable.
In my opinion, this business does not prioritize accountability, safety, or respect for its patrons. I strongly encourage others to consider this before supporting it.
Please do not support this business.
