I’m originally from NJ but have deep roots out west (LAS VEGAS-HENDERSON/SUMMERLIN). I’ve experienced more than my fair share of AYCE spots where the bar is set HIGH. That said, Takumi absolutely earns its place as a top contender close to home in NJ.

The ambience and overall vibe immediately stand out. It doesn’t feel rushed or chaotic like many AYCE around town. It feels chill, elevated and well put together.

I do have to warn others with BIGGER PARTIES (party of 8+). We waited about an HOUR and 15 minutes on a friday night to be seated together. To their credit, the hostess did offer us the option to split the group for a shorter wait, which was appreciated – we just chose to stay together in one long table. Prepare to wait on busy friday/weekend nights!

While the service wasn’t as perfect and could be more consistent, the staff was still attentive when needed and responsive throughout the meal.

Overall, this place delivers on quality – almost EVERYTHING is freshly made-to-order. The sushi tastes noticeably freshener and the hot appetizers/entrees come out hot and straight from the grill and not sitting around under heat lamps.

The food was very poor. Honestly, I didn’t think it was possible to make sushi this bad. The flavors were flat and bland, the fish had no character, and everything felt like an unbalanced, random mix rather than a thoughtfully prepared meal. It’s very likely an ingredient quality issue, because the gap between how sushi should taste and what was served here is hard to ignore.
The salmon tartare could easily be renamed “avocado tartare” — avocado completely dominated the dish, while the salmon was barely noticeable in both taste and texture.
Even the basics were disappointing: tamago had no flavor at all, and the miso soup clearly tasted like it came from powder, not something freshly prepared.
Service is fast, but it doesn’t feel like proper table service. Instead of one consistent server, you’re being attended by different people, which creates a strange and chaotic experience. It feels more like food runners than actual waitstaff, with very little personal interaction.
The interior is definitely nice and visually appealing, and that’s the only reason I’m giving one extra star — otherwise this would easily be a one-star experience.
If you care about good food rather than just the quantity of food, I would not recommend this place.

The sushi is ridiculously fresh and delicious! The waitresses are super attentive and friendly, and the “Service Needed” stands are a simple yet effective system. Will definitely be bringing my family back here.

Service is quick and convenient. Every table is provided a “service needed” plaque that is to be raised when customers are in need of service. This provides a welcoming dining experience, as those who need assistance are readily provided with it, and those who prefer to dine without disturbance can do so as well. Whether you’re craving all you can eat sushi or prefer to order a la carte, this spot delivers both quality and variety. Every dish we tried was fresh and beautifully plated. The restaurant is decorated with gorgeous cherry blossoms, creating a romantic and serene atmosphere that’s perfect for a date night or a relaxing dinner with friends!

I recommend the Explosion Roll, Sunlight Roll, and Crazy California Roll.

Wow, this place is amazing! Was here on a Thursday night. $30 for dinner ($20 for lunch with a more limited menu and upcharge for sashimi) and you really get your money’s worth! The sashimi was amazing for the price. Who offers unlimited sashimi for $30!?! I went through all of the sashimi options and loved the variety and texture of all the fish. It’s small cuts but it’s all you can eat so after trying everything, narrowed in on our top 5-7 favorite options and just kept reordering. The hand rolls are awesome as well and we had some of the special rolls and they look beautiful and taste awesome! If you get rolls, come in a bigger group so you can try more items and split the different rolls between more people because you will fill up. The sushi appetizers are the secret sauce here. So delicious and just a ton of fish with no fillers. Portions are small so you can try everything without filling up and then reorder your favorites! All the hot food came out super hot and we had to wait for it to cool off. It and the fish were always fresh. Service was so fast. They have these little signs on the table so when you need a server you stand it up and they appear in a few seconds. Super fast and friendly service that explained all our questions! The ice cream is even unlimited which is dangerous for me because I got a second round. Seriously, this is worth way more than $30. For those complaining that this doesn’t compete with the $200 Omakase in Manhattan, get a life. It’s $30 for AYCE sushi. This restaurant is amazing value, fresh fish and hot foods, fast service, and friendly and helpful staff. The decor is even really cool with the art on the walls and the cool whale lights. I will be coming back for dinner and stuffing my face with all of the delicious menu options many more times.

literally best all you can eat i’ve ever eaten at. At it’s so close to me. i love the staff, i have been learning chinese and they help me practice. food is so good.

$20 for lunch and $30 for dinner, is very fair. if they every raised the price i wouldn’t eat here, but i think this is defintely a place you can take a boy/girlfriend and they’d think it’s fancy.

Ramen is authentic, and sushi is best. ninja rollis the best. the takoyaki is awesome and so is yuzu. must try these 3 if u go to dinner.

WOW. I came here for lunch ordering takeout consisting of a California roll and a Philly roll. They had it ready in under 10 minutes! I took one bite and thought this was the freshest sushi I have ever tasted. Generous amount of filling as well. Will be coming back for dinner tonight!

I’ve been to Takumi three times and have never been disappointed!

Food: super fresh fish and great variety of sashimi, appetizers, and teriyaki. We also love the ramen soups.

Service: friendly waiters and quick! The lunch AYCE is 19.99 per person and dinner is ~30. It’s gets a lot busier during dinner time because there are so many customers

Atmosphere: love the decor!
