Friendly staff that thanked us for coming when we walked in. We ordered the crab salad to start which had good flavor but it was a very small amount for its price. The sushi we enjoyed especially the lobster roll which we would highly recommend.

Wonderful hidden gem!!! We started with the whole octopus appetizer, and the grilled octopus was so tender and delicious. My husband got the Tako special fried rice, and I got some spicy pork ramen. The broth for the ramen was so flavorful. I loved it. Service was very attentive and polite.

We recently dined at Tako Sushi in Sunny Isles, Florida, and chose to sit outside. The restaurant is located in a small, modest shopping center — nothing large or upscale.
To start, my daughter had the miso soup. She’s a picky eater and didn’t finish it, but it seemed average. We also ordered the gyoza dumplings, which were just okay — a standard appetizer of fried dumplings served with a bit of soy sauce. The edamame was similarly average, nothing memorable.
My wife and I both had the house salad with ginger dressing. However, the dressing tasted more like miso than ginger. Overall, I’d rate it a B-minus — acceptable, but not great.
We also tried the “tuna roll,” which appeared to be a basic tuna roll. It lacked flavor and needed soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi to really enhance it. The roll was small and unimpressive.
For our main course, we had the chicken teriyaki entrée. The chicken was just fair — not particularly flavorful and could have benefited from a richer, thicker teriyaki sauce. It wasn’t anything special.
Also got the boba, had too many tapioca balls, flavor was decent, got the Taro.
One important note: be sure to check your bill carefully. An 18% gratuity is automatically added, regardless of party size, so make sure it’s included before adding an additional tip.
Overall, I’m not sure I’d return. The experience was average at best.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Miami and it’s a hour from my house. Everything I have had here is delicious. We usually order the following:
Kani salad
Crispy bok choy – a must!
Pork gyozas
Salmon usuzukuri – love this!
Hamachi usuzukuri
Japanese garlic fried rice – so good!
Torched salmon belly sushi (2 per person)
Crunchy fire roll – my favorite!
Poseidon roll
Sunny Isles roll – lots of salmon!
Sapporo roll
We’ve also had the crispy tuna rice cakes and the Bang Bang shrimp, which were also really good.
The combos are a good deal if you like sushi and sashimi.

I’m in the area for work often and always come back to this spot. Their sashimi appetizer is so amazing, big portion, you can tell the quality of the fish and it is fresh! Servers are incredibly attentive and hospitable! I had 3 servers waiting on me last time I was there! The spicy tonkasu ramen is also very nice, I will say that last time I got it, it was creamier and had more flavor and more broth. This time it was still good but the last time was just a little bit better. The bang bang shrimp are also delicious and huge. Definitely recommend this place and I will 100% come back next time I’m in Sunny Isles.
Edit: 2 years later, I just want to add that I still love this place. The sushi is some of the freshest sushi I have had outside of Japan. Also the service continues to be outstanding.

Fresh ingredients and everything we ordered was tasty and looked really good! The place was cozy and had a nicely thought out mother’s day decorations. The service was lacking but it was a busy night so ill give them a pass. Excited to try here again next time.

My favorite sushi spot in Sunny Isles! The service is so quick and the staff is excellent! They have a variety of yummy rolls and I love coming here with friends and family. Whether it’s to-go or dine-in, Tako has you covered! 10/10 I recommend to everyone!
