I am Japanese. So, I would like to think that I know a few things about good ramen dishes. Colleagues from KU and I visited this shop the other day and I ordered Pork Gyoza as an appetizer and Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen.
[Review of Food]
Gyoza and the ramen dish were superb. I truly mean this. The life of ramen is the broth. The broth of Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen was the best that I have tasted in the U.S. for 40+ years I have lived here.
[Review of Atmosphere]
A simple and clean execution of décor in light color adds spaciousness to the floor space. They must have chosen not to crowd the main floor space with tables. This adds to the relaxed atmosphere of this establishment.
[Review of Staff]
We spoke mainly with Ian. He must be an experienced businessman is setting up and running a franchise restaurant such as this.
I am a big fan of local Japanese restaurants. Though this is s short preliminary review, as I dine further here, I would like to add more reviews.
Takkii Ramen is a rare major hit in the town of Kutztown. I wish the best for the business to attract more and more people.

My boyfriend and I went here last week and he ordered something expecting it to be totally different. The manager/owner noticed he wasn’t eating his food (we were not going to ask for something new since we willingly ordered it, he just didn’t like the taste) and he offered to re-make an entire bowl for him exactly how he wanted it. It shows that they really care about their customer’s satisfaction. Was really pleased and the food was delicious! Very friendly staff and they had good suggestions.

The portions are a good size for the price. Real authentic Ramen. This place is soooo good and I get full off of half a bowl. I love their drinks as well. The owner is very nice and most of the time will come out and talk to you. Sometimes some of the bowls are greasy but it depends on who’s working

Was super excited to try this place as I usually go to Bethlehem to my favorite ramen place. The atmosphere was good, the place was busy as expected. Our server was okay – he was very friendly and attentive at the beginning but after we got our food it was about 20 minutes before he came back to check in. Our waters were empty for a while and it was actually another server who came and filled our waters and brought us spoons several minutes after our server said he would get some. I also noticed the other servers were explaining to the other tables that they were soft opening and other information about the business that we weren’t told but would have been interesting to know. There were several servers and possibly a manager going around and checking in with the other tables, just not ours. All in all I feel the focus of the servers was more so dedicated to the larger tables and we were kind of left on the wayside.
The food itself was very good, absolutely no complaints there! I finished the whole bowl and could have had more. Delicious!
All that said, there’s definitely a good air about the place and I will probably be returning. I have high hopes that they will only improve!

I’ll start off by saying that my husband and I can’t eat much of the food here when on a date together. He’s very allergic to shellfish (and I won’t eat it around him or in our apartment just to be safe) and doesn’t eat pork, and I’m mildly allergic to soy. Thankfully, they allow you to switch out the broths of their soups, the options being pork, soy, and vegetable (maybe one more, but I don’t remember). I’ve gone once or twice without my husband, and the shellfish is very good. It’s definitely priced in a way that it’s not more than a special treat though.
The thing that I’ve definitely gotten here the most often is the drinks. Their boba, teas, and slushes are phenomenal. This location has a melon slush that the others don’t, and my husband adores it. My favorite so far is the blueberry lemonade green tea, although I’m planning on trying the black sugar milk tea soon.
I may be only slightly biased when it comes to service because I’m friendly acquaintances with one or two of the people who work here, but I’ve always been treated with kindness. People here have gone above and beyond to make sure my time here is enjoyable, and I’ve even had some nice conversations with the owner once or twice, and he’s a very kind person.
All in all, this place is very underrated and deserves more business than it gets. Even if you’re just in the mood for a nice drink, you should stop by!
