Unfortunately, this place is not open to the General public. In February 2025, Following my GPS directions. This led us to a dead stop at the Military arm guards checkpoint. That’s when they stopped us with a firm rejection of entry. When I explained that I had called in advance to check if they were open to the public, the employee at the Restaurant said no, we didn’t need any special membership or permissions to eat there. Wrong! The armed guard told us that they gave us the wrong info. When I asked the guard if there was another entrance to the restaurant, he said NO! and asked for my driver’s license. He replied with a loud, “Please! You need to leave now,” and he escorted us off their premises.

I took a short break from the briefing room to order lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful views of the 9 hole golf course and the welcoming ambiance of Take 5 on the greens. Service was great, and I received my to go order quickly. My meal which was a party melt combo, minus the bread was delicious.

Been here a few times, usually don’t expect much from MWR ran grills but honestly this is probably the best one I’ve been too.
They actually take time in preparing your food and the presentation is good. I hope they don’t change, the guy running the grill knows what he is doing.
This is on a military installation so you need proper credentials to enter.

I can only speak about breakfast because that’s the only meal I ate here, but it was excellent. Very inexpensive for a lot of good food. The breakfast burrito is huge and tasty for about $6. I struggled to eat it all. Even the two egg special for $4 is very good and large. Whether you’re staying on base or not, this is a great option for breakfast.

China Lake is the site of the weird and wonderful and strange weapons tests and developments. It is not known for its food. This golf course Cafe is an exception to the rule. The food is as good as any as you’d find on a top tier golf course, and for the engineer needing a break from his analysis it’s a culinary oasis.
