Takahachi is a relaxed, neighborhood Japanese restaurant in Tribeca with tasty, fresh sushi and other classic Japanese fare. The vibe feels casual yet polished — great for a date night or a quieter dinner with friends — and the sushi rolls and sashimi usually hit that fresh, balanced flavor without being super fancy or overpriced.
I liked the donburi bowls and some of the specialty rolls here, and the service was friendly and attentive. It’s not a huge space, so it can get a little busy during dinner hours, but the overall experience feels comfortable and satisfying. If you’re in the mood for solid Japanese food without a pretentious atmosphere, this place delivers.

Having just arrived in New York from Australia, we were very pleased to stumble upon this lovely restaurant. The food was great and the service was excellent, especially our waiter Denny who was attentive, friendly and helpful. It explains why the place was packed and people were willing to wait 15-20 minutes for a table.

Another visit to my favorite sushi joint. Ordered a carafe of otokoyama sake, Happy Together (broiled eel with asparagus, candied walnuts wrapped in soy paper), shumai (steamed shrimp dumplings) with honey mustard and an order of tempura udon with the crisp tempura on the side.
The eel roll is always a regular order for me as the flavor and crunchy texture of the asparagus compliment one another SO well. Delicious. I really enjoy the tentacled exterior of their shumai which is only made more enjoyable with the sweet heat of the mustard. Who doesn’t find a big hot bowl of udon in flavorful broth so comforting and combined with a collection of fried veg and a couple perfectly cooked tempura shrimp.
All absolutely delectable. I have & always will recommend Takahachi Tribeca as a satisfying and consistent choice for creative & high quality sushi & Japanese food in general. You’ll love it!

The music is not loud. Very comfortable sittings. And the service was really good. Our baby is really happy here. We ordered seafood tempura, uni sushi, hot wings, taxi driver and a roll called bee sth lol. Seafood tempura and uni are so far the best we had in this year. The bee roll is very tasty too.

I was lucky to get a reservation for a party of 5 at prime time. One of my friend was here before so she suggested to have a dinner at this place. I let her pick the menu and she ordered so many delicious stuff so we were super stuffed.
We had Tsunami salad and Nori Green salad. I really Nori green salad because the yuzu dressing was very taste. Fried dumplings were also good. We had lot of sushi and sashimi and at the end we had a perfect combination of ice cream, Green tea, Black sesame and Yuzu.
Service is very friendly and wonderful. We enjoy so much with the meal and meeting with friends.

Food is absolutely amazing. The fish is extremely high quality and tasty. I could not recommend this place more; definitely a great Japanese restaurant. The atmosphere is the weak link in the restaurant since everything else is so great. There are some cheaper options with specials, such as a lunch meal, but also more expensive options you can order. It does get quite busy so get there easy!
