I got the butter chicken, garlic naan, and a chicken appetizer. Overall the meal extremely tasty and satisfying. It was the perfect flavor combination I was looking for, and left with a full stomach.

Service was friendly, and ambient was pleasant with Indian decor and light music. An excellent spot for authentic Indian food in Rio!

Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant in Rio is a gem and truly special as it’s one of the oldest Indian restaurants in the city. It offers a wide variety of vegetarian options, which was a big plus for us. We honestly got a little too excited to find Indian food in another country and ended up ordering a lot — and it was worth it!

The food overall was very good, and the ambiance added to the experience. They also served complimentary onions, which was a nice touch.

A special mention to our server — he was Sikh, extremely nice, friendly, and welcoming. He gave us great advice as first-time visitors to Rio, including a club recommendation that turned out to be really good . His warmth and hospitality made the experience even better.

Definitely a comforting and satisfying place to visit if you’re craving authentic Indian food in Rio.

Recommendable Indian food in Rio de Janeiro. The food was good and the service was excellent. We got three different plates and they were all very good. The portion sizes were a lot smaller than expected, so I did feel like I could have eaten more but my wife was very full from her plate. One issue to note is that the entire menu is a la carte and you have to order rice and naan extra, which hikes up the price significantly.

The food looked really good when it came. It was really bad when i had it. Breads are really good most of them and cooked perfect. But when we had the food paneer butter masala it was really rich means had a lot of good ingredients but not the right amount. But the biggest disappointment was that the panner was really sour and you can tell its really old.

Ambiance and the setting was really good and everything felt premium. Service was good (brazillian standards).

Solid Indian restaurant with authentic ingredients. I come here often and it’s comparable to places in the US and Europe. Not typical to find a good Indian restaurant in Rio but this one is excellent.

Thought we would try our 1st brazilian indian . The staff gave us a warm reception at the doorway the place was clean and tidy.
Bonus most of the menu was in English. I ordered the tika starter and the lamb rogan gosh. With rice and a garlic nan, my daughter went for the veg samosas ,then the butter chicken and rice , with the butter nan.
I found my starter of the chicken tikia to be very tasty and the daughter loved her veg samosas 4 good sizes
For the main I found my lamb organ gosh to be tasty and the rice could have served two people.
The daughters butter chicken she said the sauce was lovely but her 1st bite of chicken she said was chewy and this put her off the chicken so she just poured the sauce over the rice and she was fine with that , in all it was enjoyable in my eyes , daughter thought the chicken could have been better or better prepared

Starters were good; Biryani was still very wet and not balanced. Curry wasn’t authentic despite asking for Indian spice level.

Service was attentive.

Menu not available in English.

Staff doesn’t speak English ( nor was the waiter able to communicate in Hindi) – but of course we are in Brazil so there is in principle no fault in that.

Decor of the restaurant was nice; staff uniform very posh.

Oh forgot – cheese naan was also good ( though one piece was pretty burned)

Portion size was alright

This is a genuine Indian fine dining restaurant owned by an Indian, also the food feels very authentic & real. The food gave the feeling of India in a far of country outside India. You can even order Jain food or Satwik food as the owner has an idea of Jain/Satwik food.
Thank Brazil, thanks Rio
Best wishes !!!
