We started out our cultural and culinary journey in Downtown Schenectady over 12 years ago serving our royal guests here in Schenectady, a rich repertoire of food that is packed with history, geography, artistry, diversity with plenty of options for vegans and the health conscious. Even if you are new to Indian cuisine, there is something for everyone on our menu! Our menu has assorted vegetarian and non-vegetarian options as well as vegan and gluten-free options to suit all dietary needs and preferences! We can also make our dishes as mild or spicy as you please.

My favorite Indian spot in the 518. The owner is one of the nicest business owners I’ve ever met. The food is authentic and has consistently been incredible every time for the past decade I’ve been going. It’s also nice that they are, as far as I know, the only Indian restaurant offering vegan-friendly naan as long as you order it unbuttered. I was sad when they were forced to leave their Clinton Ave location, but their new spot in the old church is spacious and cozy, albeit hidden from the outside.
My go-to is their aloo chana! The veggie samosas are also excellent.

The appetizers were “ok”, although a bit pricy. The main course was nothing special (took shrimp biriani & aloo chana) , and didn’t feel the authentic Indian taste at all! The “aloo chana” had maybe 3-4 pieces of potatoes. Staff is good , the place is overall clean.

One of most satisfying and most engaging meal we have ever had. The very very nice hosts made the otherwise perfect meal a memorable one.

There is a lot of room for improvement. The room was cold, so it is wise to bring your jackets, service started by giving my partner and I one glass and pitcher of water and nothing else. The second glass came when the meal arrived. The food was decent, but over priced. We went up to the servers to get our check which took sometime to get. Perhaps this is a good pickup spot, but I would not recommend for a pleasant dining experience, I don’t believe you get the value that you pay for.

Ordered from Taj Mahal tonight. Normally will order through grub hub but went to pick it up myself. There was an issue with the order as 2 orders of garlic naan were forgotten. The owner immediately took ownership and had the issue rectified within just a few minutes. He was extremely apologetic and offered me a free drink while they made fresh naan. Had a chance to chat with him and he clearly cares about his business and its history in the region. After a nice chat, free bottle of water, and a complementary side of rice pudding, I went home with my dinner. Everything was delicious as always. We will continue to be repeat customers of Taj Mahal. A+ customer service and delicious food!!

The food was amazingly good!!! I have eaten at other Indian buffet in the area but I have to say, this place is a Hidden Gem!!
The food is fresh and the service is the best. The owner even gave my daughter a free mango lassi. She Loved It!!!
My favorite thing was the curry chicken (magnific!!) Its the most savory, a bit spicy but not too much. I don’t like it too spicy so it was just right for me. I would definitely recommend this restaurant
