This is a terrific Miraflores located Indian restaurant that has a nice selection of both traditional vegetarian and non vegetarian items. I had the tandoori chicken as a starter and the mushroom and pea curry, naan and vegetable raita. I requested medium spice level and my curry was spiced exactly how I like it. I had a masala tea and fresh lime juice with mint to drink. All the items were delicious and generous in portion size. The service staff including the owner/chef were professional, courteous and English speaking. The menu was also available in English. The restaurant had a pleasant Indian themed decor with enjoyable Indian music playing softly in the background. The washroom was clean and well maintained. This is a great place for locals and tourists that enjoy delicious Indian cuisine prepared and served by friendly staff in a comfortable environment.

I don’t often write reviews but I had to pen this one whilst still in the restaurant. As an Englishman living in the US, and who travels to South America fairly regularly, my quest for a good curry often leads down dead ends. However, tonight I got to experience one of the best Indian meals I’ve ever had. The flavor profiles in all the dishes were spot on, and the heat level (I asked for spicy) were just to my liking. If you ever find yourself in Lima, and more specifically Miraflores, and you are yearning for a curry, do yourself a favor and get your arse here. I can’t speak highly enough of this place, and I’ll definitely be back.

At first I thought okay, my coke is not super cold.. but still okay. But then food came, and omg, this is one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been. The taste is so subtle, authentic. And naan is always good, but this one had something extra, it was like having pizza at the best pizza restaurant in town. It had just the right thickness, right balance between soft and crispy, not too greasy. It’s a shame I came alone and I could only try 2 dishes. Will definitely come back!

Food is edible but nothing out of the ordinary, and the service leaves much to be desired (quite unfriendly and grumpy). Also, they *forget* to bring a receipt even though one was requested, just a credit card slip, which is not what is required legally. Portions are a bit small but taste OK: the butter chicken was *not* creamy and smooth (basically no heavy cream there) with a few bits of chicken in a mostly tomato sauce (tasted stored bought and not kitchen made), and the chicken tikka masala was OK only. The quality of the lassi is subpar: the strawberry one tasted like diluted commercial yogurt purchased from a supermarket, and the mango was a bit on the too tart side (like the fermentation went a bit more that needed). Surprisingly, the samosas were tasty and the highlight of the experience. There are much better indian restaurants in Lima (such as Massala) in the same price range and with much better service and excellent food.

Excellent experience! We ordered Indian lemonade, Samosas with mint chutney and tamarind, garlic naan, Rogan Josh with rice (amazing) Indian pickled vegetables (which was not on the menu but a special request) and chili chutney. This was a perfect amount of food shared between two people.
The presentation was beautiful, the food was authentic and delicious and we left feeling incredibly grateful. Every flavor was unique to the others and we enjoyed it all. They serve basmati rice which was a huge plus.
We were served by the chef who is a lovely man. He was engaging and kind. On a side note, it kind of blew me away that he took our order by memory and everything came out perfectly. That’s something that does not happen often.
The environment was very comfortable and they have air-conditioning.
We would love to return soon. Thank you so much!

Taj Mahal Restaurant in Lima, Peru was an unexpected but glorious find! Really an amazing experience whether it’s the decoration, food or what I assume was the chef/owner. Taj Mahal was a great experience of delicious Indian cuisine in a place you just don’t think about finding it. The spice, freshness and uniqueness of flavor is not to be beat! Enjoy it!

Taj Mahal Restaurant was a great experience here in Lima. We came in because we deeply missed indian food and this was nothing short of amazing food. We got the Daal Makhani, Mattar Paneer, Chili Naan, Garlic Naan, Veg Jalfrezi, Baigan Bharata, Chana Bhatura, vegetarian Samosas, Veg Raita, Plain yogurt and Veg Pakora. Food was flavorful with a good amount of spice, service was quick, efficient and phenomenal. Our food came fast and our waiter was very helpful and patient. They also had a live dance performance!
Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Lima, it’ll blow you away 🙂
