We had the pleasure of visiting a wonderful halal restaurant in the Como area today, and it turned out to be an excellent experience from start to finish. The restaurant is owned by Mr. Usman, a Pakistani gentleman who is not only a great host but also someone who makes you feel completely at home with his warm and welcoming nature.
We tried a variety of dishes including chicken tikka, cholay, butter chicken, and some delicious barbecue items, and every single dish was full of authentic flavor and perfectly cooked. The taste was truly fantastic—rich, flavorful, and very close to the traditional Pakistani taste that we love. On top of that, the karak chai was the highlight of our meal, bringing back the exact taste and aroma of chai you would get in Pakistan. It was the perfect way to end the evening.
The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and comfortable, and our overall time spent there was very enjoyable. What made the experience even more memorable was meeting Mr. Usman himself—his kindness and hospitality really stood out and made us feel more like guests at his home rather than just customers.
In short, this was an excellent dining experience, and I would highly recommend anyone visiting Como to stop by this restaurant at least once. Whether you are looking for authentic Pakistani food, a halal option, or simply a place with great hospitality, this restaurant should be on your list. A big thanks to Mr. Usman and his team for making our visit so special—we will definitely be coming back!

Great Indian takeaway in Como

We ordered 4 times in our month long stay here.

Would recommend you give it a try.

While I was in picking up a takeaway yesterday, a group of 12 guys walked in followed by a family of 17. Can’t be bad if that’s the numbers of clientele who are coming in on a Sunday night!

We took dinner from this restaurant. We ordered chicken beryani, chicken seekh kebab, lamb curry, tandoori naan, two cups of tea, natural water, tin Coca Cola etc. beryani was too much oily and mix food colour in axcess, I guess it was stale, lamb curry was tasty but abundant of oil in it, chicken kabobs were delicious, Ifghani tandoori naans were excellent, tea was also delicious. The food wasn’t expensive.

We went for an Indian while we were in Como. The Meat samosa was delicious, really fresh.
We also had korma, Vegetable Biryani and garlic naan. All with amazing flavour. To drink I ordered the Mango Lassi, which undoubtedly was the best I’ve ever had, and a good amount.
As for the price it was really really cheap considering nowadays.
Thanks for the great friendly service.

Taj Mahal, Como, Italy – A Culinary Gem

During my travels across eight countries, I’ve dined at over 15 restaurants, sampling cuisines from around the world. Yet, Taj Mahal in Como, Italy, stands out as a truly exceptional experience. Nestled in the charming city of Como, this restaurant delivers an unforgettable taste of Indian cuisine that rivals the best I’ve ever had.

From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and attentive staff set the tone for a delightful evening. The menu is a vibrant showcase of Indian classics, and every dish I tried was executed with precision and care. The flavors were bold yet balanced—rich curries, perfectly spiced tandoori, and fragrant biryanis that left me savoring every bite. Even the naan, often an afterthought elsewhere, was soft, fluffy, and perfectly charred.

What impressed me most was the consistency; every single dish was outstanding, a rare feat in my dining experiences. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was as inviting as the aromas. The staff’s genuine hospitality added to the experience, making me feel like a welcomed guest rather than just a customer.

Taj Mahal is a must-visit for anyone in Como seeking exceptional Indian food. It’s not just a meal—it’s a journey of flavors that lingers long after the last bite. I can’t wait to return.

Solid location. I drove all the way from Lugano because my Indian friend from Goa said they went here on holiday and it was the best. They were right. Legit desi cuisine, masala chai and service. Owner speaks Hindi, English, Italian. The price is great, not common in this area.

Local Indian fast food style restaurant. Food was below expectations. Butter chicken was liquid like a soup, instead of being creamy and thick sauce.

Me and my husband(both indian) visited this amazing restaurant to satiate our cravings today. We were soooo hungry and ordered:
1. Chicken Tikka: Very well cooked and flavorful
2. Fish pakora: Crispy and juicy.
3. Chicken Biryani: Very aromatic and delicious
4. Mango Lassi: Superb and went very well with the spicy food.
5. Chicken Curry: Amazing! It think it had a taste of Lahori chicken. We loved it!

Each of the above items were 100/10! They were very very delicious and surpassed our expectations! I recommend to order each of the items above. If you are craving for North Indian/Pakistani food, this is the most authentic place. The staff member serving us was one of the sweetest people I have met. Very hard working and friendly.
Also, 1000% value for money! Do not forget to order Mango lassi, it is one of the best I have had.
We were so busy eating, did not get time for pictures. The food quantity in the image below is after we ate 40% of the food. Amazing food portions.

Shrimp biryani is very bad, it was heated and not specially prepared to order. The shrimp were frozen and small. The naan bread was very bad. I ordered butter chicken but it was disappointing. I felt that it was frozen, ready to be heated and served to the customer. It was very fatty and salty. I will never go back to him. He has no experience in Indian food. It is just the name of an Indian restaurant, but he prepares everything, shawarma and pizza.

The food was delicious and extremely affordable, my only complaint is that the portions were a little small but we were sharing portions and were all satiated in the end. Also my Indian friend said the mango lassi wasn’t really up to par but to me, a white person, it was good 🙂
