The food is perfectly spiced, not overpowering. They have 5 levels of spicy, which i think is appropriately rated. The flavors are good and the meat was soft and tender. The service is very good, kind and polite server. The icecream is so soft and yummy! Fast service, affordable prices, good sized portions. Go for the lunch special! Good deal!

We were so excited this place opened back up. We got seated right away and Sharalyn was there to great us with recommendations on drinks. I got a mock tail called island punch and my husband got the mango lassi, they both were great! For appetizers we got the Aloo Tikki and again no complaints as they were so good, from the crispy outside to the chutneys, I definitely recommend this app. For main meals I got the fish masala (mild) and my husband got the chicken tika masala (medium-hot). Both had AMAZING flavor and left us full and satisfied, you can definitely tell a mom and dad were cooking in the back, it was go good. All around we had an amazing experience and we will definitely be back to try more of their amazing dishes!

I came with a party of four, ordered two dishes and some drinks. The food took from 7:20-8:16 to come and that was really disappointing. Our drinks came really fast so between 7:30 and 8:10 no one came to check on our table and I had to find the server to inquire:(. we ordered chicken tandoori with spice level 4/5 and it came sweet, while the paneer pepper masala we ordered at a 3/5 came much spicier. The owners mother came to say hi at the end of our meal and she was really sweet:). I wish we had received better service, and more accurate spice levels. the naan we ordered seemed rushed and was actually dough and raw. The place is decorated well and the music is so good. The drinks were really good especially the iced chai. I met the brothers who own this place and they were really nice and accommodating.

We went to Taj for the first time it’s opening week and the food was absolutely delicious! We got a heat of level 3 which was a bit too spicy for us (and we both enjoy quite a bit of spice), so it’s recommended to start at 1-2 and work your way up. We ordered the Chef’s Vegetarian Dinner Special and it came with all the food pictured below as well as a dessert. We will definitely go back soon!

Went to Taj for their soft open week and really enjoyed our food! Samosas were delicious and came out so fast. We both really liked our entrees (beef vindaloo and paneer pepper masala). Some little hitches with ordering system and the servers getting comfortable with the menu, but so expected for the soft open. We will be going back!! Super excited to have an Indian restaurant walking distance in our neighborhood!!!

We have been so excited for this place to open and were not disappointed! The food was great (instantly a top five Indian place in the Madison area), complete with many vegetarian and vegan options and friendly and fast service. An excellent update to the old Borough and we both cleaned our plates. Highly recommend to anyone considering trying it!

The food is not authentic at all. It’s extremely mild. It’s Midwest inspired.
Gulab jam is filled with cheese. It would be great if it was made clear in the online menu that gulab jam is not normal and tasted super weird. The curry was also very mild and not flavorful. I ordered spicy.
Service and atmosphere were great! Don’t go there for authentic food

I think the previous Taj was one of the first Indian Restaurants in Madison, and it was always one of the best. So happy they are back in the new location. Go get yourself some naan and some masala, you will not be disappointed.

Was a huge fan of the Taj Mahal previously on Park St and can say, The Taj brought back amazing memories and is just as I had remembered. The service, drinks, appetizers, and mains were impeccable. The spice levels were appropriate. For us, the Chicken Tikka Masala was our family’s favorite with the Matar Paneer and Shrimp Curry closely behind. We started with samosas and the vegetable pakora – both were exceptional. The kids enjoyed their Mango Lassie drinks!! Don’t delay, run to The Taj.

Everything was delicious! We ordered: Samosa, Vegetable Pakora, Fish Masala, Plain Naan, Aloo Paratha, Mango Lassi. So much yummy food but we couldn’t stop eating. Wish I would have taken photos before we started digging in but here is our naan that is almost gone. We highly recommend!
