We’re excited to share that our Indian restaurant is entering a fresh new chapter! We’ve moved away from the old “pick-a-meal” style and now serve every dish in a generous 16-ounce container with a side of rice. This change helps us stay consistent with flavor, quality, and portion size, giving you the best experience every time. Our focus is shifting toward a true dine-in atmosphere with warm hospitality, authentic recipes, and freshly prepared meals that reflect the heart of Indian cooking. Whether you’re joining us for lunch, dinner, or a quick take-out, we are dedicated to bringing you bold flavors, fresh food, and an inviting place to enjoy them.

Reviews
Additionally, please do not claim there was a manager present when there wasn’t. This is consistent with many of your past reviews mentioning the same issue
– no manager available when needed.
Your staff was unprepared and unable to manage basic customer service. We did not use any profanity, contrary to what is being claimed. We were speaking among ourselves and expressing frustration about the poor service we experienced.
I will continue to stand by my honest review And opinion!
We stopped here after visiting a family member at Enloe. It was our first time in Chico, and we wanted a decent meal before our 2-hour drive home. What we experienced at Taj was beyond unacceptable. When we walked into Taj, we placed our order at the register with a young girl who seemed very inexperienced and struggled to take the order correctly. She had to write everything down first and then enter it into the register, as it was clear she couldn’t multitask.
We clearly ordered our food for here, and when I asked where to sit, she told us “anywhere.” We waited 30–40 minutes, only for them to pack everything to go. This was frustrating because we couldn’t eat all of that in the car. When I told her it was for here, she insisted it was to go. We also realized they never gave us our drinks until we asked, and even then, no plates were offered for dining in.
When we asked for a manager, the same child claimed she was the manager—which is absurd and shows the lack of professionalism at this place.
We requested a refund and left all the food and drinks untouched because the whole situation was mishandled from start to finish. Instead of apologizing, they rudely told us they could give us plates now.
This was one of the most unprofessional restaurant experiences we’ve ever had—zero customer service, zero accountability, and a completely incompetent staff. To top it off, as we were leaving, someone in the parking lot was throwing up after eating there. That alone says enough.
Second best is to leave them a great review.
In a community over saturated with Mexican food, give Taj a try. You will not be disappointed. If you find yourself easily intimidated by their menu, don’t fret, I got you covered. Keep it simple and start with the Chicken Curry, add heat/spice to your liking. I really enjoy mine set at Medium. 10/10 Recommend
It was a very present experience and I will be taking my family again.
Lady at the counter was absolutely wonderful and helpful, the food portions were great for the price. If you want a good meal get the special combo, $22 bucks each but you get three entrees, rice, a drink, naan and a delicious rice pudding desert.
Was enough for wife and I both to fill up and have a second meal of leftovers today. Food was absolutely delicious, spicy but extremely flavorful so a great balance to everything. The garlic naan was to die for and had a good amount of garlic on it (wife and I love garlic so most places don’t use enough in our opinion).
Food was so good my wife wants to go again next weekend and I am absolutely inclined to do it again. Absolutely worth the visit and revisit.
EDIT: Several months later, the special combo is no longer and the buffet style is gone. We were disappointed, but the food is still delicious and is still one of our favorite places to go.
I don’t remember who worked there that recommended it, but tried the Chicken Pakora with our order today and it was honestly my new obsession it was so good!
# Food is good you have many options to select from.
# Chicken biryani was good but they gave too many chicken pieces and rice was so less. I hope they give more rice.
# Veg Thali is really good, all the curry and Garlic Nan is amazing.
# Samosa is good but size small and the tamarind chutney is amazing.
