If you have ever enjoyed authentic Indian food anywhere else, this is not the place for you. I have tried this place twice and it does not do Indian food justice. It has some aspects of good Indian flavors but completely misses the mark on texture and aesthetics. I have tried six different dishes here and none of them were ones I would recommend. Even the bread seemed like a frozen brand you can buy in the grocery store. If you’ve never had Indian before and you want to do an Americanized foray into eating this cuisine, this might be the place for you.

Had the tasty lentil soup , the lentils were very broken down and the soup was quite homogeneous. For my entre had the Lamb Korma the sauce was a creamy spicy mixture added atop rice and had a side of Nan to hand eat to my delight. Odd atmosphere here parts of it are trying to look like fine dining with lovely dishware and clothed tables. In contrast there are advertisements underneath the table glass, Hindi films playing on mounted televisions on either side of the room. It just kind of clashes to me but who cares the food is great. I look forward to trying another dish from Taj in the near future.

I had dinner here this evening and the atmosphere was not good. I’m not sure why this place is so highly rated. Anywhere else a 4.3 stars warrants great food and a top-notch service. The food was edible, but it didn’t feel fresh. My biggest gripe is with the non-veg samosa—the filling is as dry as sand and almost inedible. The servers are not attentive and watch Indian soaps on TV while the customers are present. Scant attention is paid to the customers because their attention is diverted by these shows. The ambience is definitely not of a restaurant and that of a place where you’ve overstayed your welcome. And they’re only there due to being forced… somehow—which very well could be the case.

This restaurant may not look like the best but honestly the food is so good. Anytime I want this type of food I go here. They’re always nice and the food is always fresh. Wonderful Tandoor chicken. 10 out of 10.

Delicious food probably my favorite in Lexington! The chicken Saag is amazing as was the garlic naan! Service was fast and the environment welcoming.

I love their food and that it’s a family run restaurant! They have been consistent in their food and prices for years! I am really sad that they don’t do the lunch buffet anymore though. I got butter chicken yesterday for the first time here and it was DELICIOUS ! Worth trying!

First timer here and in a nutshell, will never go back. I must disclose, I am of Indian descent so I know what good Indian food is supposed to taste. I’ve even travelled across the pond to India and has some of the best Indian cuisines in my life, so my standards may be off putting however, I have had Indian food here in the states and somewhat lowered my standards. Now, lets get to the food. I ordered the mango lassi, veg platter for an appetizer, and the paneer do piazza. The mango lassi hit the table first and it started off as a hit. Next, the veg platter came through and it was an appetizer sampler with a samosa, spring onion and potato pakoda, fried paneer, and a fried aloo square piece. All these dishes on the sampler were good, except for the paneer and it was only breaded with a bland paneer cube with no spices or previously grilled before frying. At this point into my dinner, I was content and was looking forward to my main course, the Paneer Do Piazza, which is supposed to come with green bell peppers, onions, and paneer in a tomato cream gravy. This definitely turned my opinion on the food the other way. First of all, the gravy tasted like tomato ketchup, yuck! Even looking at the color of the gravy, you can tell it was ketchup based. Secondly, there was only one bell pepper cube in there, and I didn’t even see any onions. I only took one spoonful and was done. I didn’t even bother taking the leftovers home as no one in my household would dare to touch it. The restaurant was completely empty, btw, so you’d think the service would be fast paced but NO. We literally asked for the check and it took so long to get it, I had to go up to the waitress and ask if we had to pay up front or do we continue to wait at our table. She said she would get our checks to our table. 5 minutes more pass by and still there was no check, so I decided to take initiative and go up to the counter to pay. Tasteless food and in addition, poor and slow service. I will most certainly not go back. 2 star rating because the appetizer and drink were tasty otherwise, if those failed, it would be a 1 star to 0 star rating.

We’ve tried almost all of the Indian places in Lexington. I’d apparently forgotten what we got here before, because I can’t understand how or why I’d ever order there again. It seems like they thinned their sauces with water to stretch them further, resulting in an incredibly bland inedible meal.

The food tasted great. The samosa was pretty good. All the food tasted fresh. The desserts were on point. We got a veggie thali and chicken curry at medium spicy. The service was good. Food came in within few minutes. Our waitress checked on us multiple times. I would come again whenever I’m in lexington.
