Extra orders and complete desserts to share,
It’s run by a husband and wife, so they have limited seating. You need to call for reservations. Sometimes hard to get, but once you do, it is so worth it!
The omakase is worth it, especially the 12 pcs. I’ve gone to so many, where the fish grade wasn’t bad, but didn’t feel like the price. This…I dunno where they “bid” on their fish, but, it is definitely of high grade.
Their omakase is an absolute steal for the quality and quantity you get. It’s hands down the best value omakase we’ve found in Southern California.
Don’t sleep on the appetizers either. The chicken nanban is a must-try: crispy, juicy, and perfectly balanced with their house tartar sauce. Every dish hits the mark.
It’s rare to find a spot that combines this level of quality with such warmth and authenticity. This place deserves all the hype — best sushi in SoCal, no contest.
A hidden gem in Garden Grove. Japanese owned omakase that focuses on seasonal offerings. Ben and Ayako make you feel welcome once you walk in those doors. The menu is hand written and you can see the focus and care that Ben puts with each piece of nigiri. If you want to come and get a bite, make sure you make your reservations at least 2 weeks in advance.
OMG — it did not disappoint. The beef tongue was unlike anything I’ve ever had — so tender it literally melts in your mouth. Premium quality, no question. The karaage (fried chicken) was juicy with perfect batter, and honestly every single dish you could taste the quality.
I didn’t even know my friend had the owner’s number — that’s how she got us in so easily (and why she goes so often). Between the husband-and-wife owners, the service felt warm and personal, like being welcomed into someone’s home. They were so sweet and attentive.
Some of their desserts are made in-house, too, which just adds to the experience. I seriously can’t wait to go back… just need to actually make that reservation ( ).
Chef/owner Ben-san delighted our taste buds with his omakese and while there was too many items to remember, I’ll do my best to provide the highlights:
1) beef tongue appetizer was the most tender beef tongue we’ve ever tried. Literally fell apart, fork tender. My only minor complaint would have been that the au jus was slightly too salty but the missus thought it was just fine and even drank the au jus after.
2) the amber jack, hikado uni and fatty tuna were standouts from the omakese (we opted for the 12 piece) but all the fish were fresh and delicious
3) and lastly, Ben-san, Ayako-san (husband/wife team) and their wait staff, Lucy, were attentive, great at making suggestions and just a delight to interact with.
We can wait for our next meal there!
