If you’re looking for consistently delicious Asian cuisine in the North Bethesda/Rockville area, Taipei Tokyo is an absolute gem.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, casual enough for a relaxed weeknight dinner, yet polished enough for a special night out. The menu has Japanese and Taiwanese/Chinese dishes, and everything tastes incredibly fresh. The sushi is always beautifully presented and tasty with high-quality fish. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable for the area, and takeout orders are always carefully packed and accurate.
What truly makes the experience exceptional, though, is the service: especially Flora. She is incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. Flora goes out of her way to make all guests feel welcome, remembers returning customers, and is always happy to offer thoughtful recommendations. She even asks me what soup I want as I walk in the door so I don’t wait long to be warmed up when we sit. Her positive energy and professionalism elevate the entire dining experience and make you want to come back.

This is my new favorite restaurant! My boyfriend and I got the drunken noodle and sushi. Both dishes were incredible. I was commenting on how the drunken noodle dish wasn’t overly salted or overly sweet like other places, instead it was perfectly balanced and used other flavors to make it full of depth and flavor. The noodles were perfectly cooked and oiled. Truly this place takes the food to the next level Flora was our waitress and was kind and attentive, she even gave me a flower 🙂 Oh and they box up your leftovers for you, a lost art. Thanks Taipei Tokyo!

The food is pretty terrible. I ordered General Tso chicken to go and it is hands down the worst I’ve ever had. There was absolutely no flavor. It seemed the cook prepared it was missing some ingredients. I don’t know how they managed to make it bland, but there was no flavor. Not sweet, nor savory, nor seasoned. There was also pockets of dough that weren’t fried. The meat tasted old and the chicken came out soggy. The service was surprising considering the high reviews. I can only imagine there is a really sweet waitress asking people to give this place positive reviews. When I came to pick up my food the lady at the front was pretty dismissive. Not completely rude but more distracted by her phone call. She looked like I was an inconvenience and there wasn’t a single customer in the restaurant. I should have trusted my gut. A place that makes thai, chinese and japanese cuisine is probably not where to go for a solid meal. This was made lazily with no intention on making the meal taste good. It was just thrown together. That’s $20 down the drain. Buyer beware.

Been here twice and very much enjoyed both times. Recent was general taos chicken and it’s the best I have had in the DMV so far. I had drunken noodles (I think) last time and was also excellent

The food was incredible, and the portion sizes were generous, allowing us to savor every bite. We ordered the Dry Fried Beef rice noodles, which were authentic and delicious. The staff, particularly Flora, provided exceptional hospitality. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning!
