As a Puerto Rican person, the mofongo is not a true mofongo. It’s like a giant toston. The ropa vieja had a good flavor but very spicy. Unfortunately that wasn’t on the description and I don’t eat spicy food. I didn’t like the black beans and the white rice was good. That’s all I ordered. The location is in a good place. It’s on a second floor and not a dine in place.

Only take out. No dine in. I wanted to enjoy this so bad and was looking forward to it. The place is a bit hard to find especially at night. It looks a bit sketchy and the set up they have is a bit weird. You have to go up some stairs and the set up is 2 regular home stoves, and a few other things. Friendly guys. The chicken was a little too sweet for me. The ropa vieja was ok but not shredded (more like chunks of beef). The white rice was decent well cooked, not mushy, not hard. Beans were spicy. If you are into spicy, and sweet foods you will like this. If you are looking for traditional Dominican or puerto rice food I don’t see how so many reviewers say this is it. I wish them well though. They seem like very nice guys and their customer service was good. Decent prices all things considered.

This is a unique takeout only for Caribbean food.

Housed in warehouse/industrial type building so make sure to check the map otherwise easy to miss it.

Reviews were good so we decide to give it a try. I have to said it is a disappointment for one simple reason – the food were way too salty and SOUR!! Maybe they had a bad day? or seasoned twice.

The Ox tail was good, the stew is nicely done, but it would be much better if it wasn’t that salty. Other beefs was dry and fry was burn.

You won’t leave disappointed. The menu isn’t deep, but they excel at everything on it. The mojo pork, empanadas, ox tail, and Cubanos are my favorite. Some of the best I’ve ever had across the board. Wife loves the desert empanadas. Happy to hear they’ll be doing lunch in the New Year. Highly recommend if you like Caribbean food. I’d give it more stars if I could.

Reservations: none, no dine-in. Carry-out only.

Location: in an industrial lot, can be easy to miss if you’re not looking closely, but otherwise easy to find.

Parking: easy, in a lot with many spaces.

Food:
Empanadas – shell was crispy and well-cooked. The shredded chicken filling was good, nothing special but still tasty. Would try a different filling next time. Overall rating 3/5.

Cuban sandwich – the bread was thicker and more “sub”-like than many cubanos I have had in the past. Also had garlic cloves in it which was a nice surprise (I love garlic). Came with rice and beans. Pretty good, would get again. Overall rating 4/5.

Ropa vieja – comes with beans and rice. Quite salty on its own, but balances out nicely when eaten with rice. Would get again. Overall rating 4/5.

Guava & cheese empanada dessert – same size as the appetizer empanada. Delicious! The cream cheese goes very well with the guava and is well-balanced. Would get again. Overall rating 5/5.

These guys are fantastic, just working that American dream, you know? When my Cuban abuela and mother immigrated here they brought with them the flavors of home. Other than in my own kitchen, and outside of Miami, these guys cook the next best thing. Traditional style, real garlic, onion, peppers, and slow cooked and braised everything. A gem of a find here and I’ll be a regular for sure. I hope someday they are up for and can rise to the change and service a sit down experience full time, but for now, takeout on the weekends will have to do!

@tainos_caribbean is an amazing ghost kitchen in Broomfield. I had run across it a few weeks ago and had really wanted to try it. It’s in a pretty industrial area that was fairly deserted with no large sign so I just went to the only door that looked open. Fortunately they had a small menu in the window to help me identify it.

This was my first mofongo so tbf I don’t really have a comparison but this was amazing. Crunchy but soft and savory on the inside. I don’t exactly know what the stewed veggies were but despite being a certified meat eater I didn’t feel like I missed anything. I have had empanadas and arepas before and these were really good. The arepa was a bit unusual to have the protein on top but it was amazing—savory with the familiar lime twang. The mojo pork empanada had a still crunchy pastry despite me driving it home. They had asked and I said it was fine to pack the guava pastry with the empanada. It was a very nice sweet dessert. I had forgotten I wanted to try the Yuca, tostones, and the other entrees so will definitely be back soon.

This place is takeout only! I had the Cuban sandwich lunch special which came with black beans, steamed rice, and a side. I had tostones as my side. The Cuban sandwich was tasty but the star of the show was the steak empanada!

A bit of an unorthodox location, but fantastic food. We had the Cuban, yuca, tostones, ropa vieja, and chicken arepa. The beans were the most flavorful I’ve ever had. The sauces they gave us were also incredible.
