Historic hot dog stand in West Hollywood with a lot of good stuff on the menu. I went for the corn dog and it didn’t disappoint. I love they have the ordering screen outside in what was the original stall. Theres an outdoor patio and an indoor seating area as well. They also sell alcohol as well. It’s kind of in a tough spot parking wise, but definitely worth a visit.

Really cute vintage style hot dog shop with quite a long history in West Hollywood. There’s also a tiki bar upstairs. Lots of really neat vintage decor from the color choices to some of the seating areas inside and out. Staff looked busy as usual. If you have a bar reservation upstairs, you can order from there and I got a Lucky Tiki Pup. The Hot dog was a little hard to chew. It came with a pineapple ring and teriyaki sauce that was sweet but not overbearing on a toasted sweet Hawaiian bun. Limited street parking outside, not sure if there were any onsite parking spaces.

Where to begin?
First and foremost I want to say that the lovely young lady at the counter was very warm and friendly. She was eager to help whenever she could. That was the best way to start this experience.
Now I had the Chicago Pup which I truly enjoyed but it seemed a little less after biting into the jumbo corn dog. The batter was extremely flavorful and had a great texture. One of the best I have had and I will have again.
As for their chili, it had a great flavor and with the perfectly fried spuds it was amazing. I had two issues during my visit. One was I didn’t like mustard being in the chili dog and two the soda mix that was a bit off. It won’t keep me from going back at all. Thank you Tail of the Pup for a great meal!

Been a big fan of this place for years, been coming here and bringing friends – love the aesthetic and the history. Recently they changed the vegan dog from the good quality field roast frankfurters to smart dogs. This is a huge downgrade in quality and honestly such a scam to charge EXTRA for a smart dog. The flavor is nothing compared to what it used to be and seems like a way for them to use a worse product and make more money. Huge letdown, idk if I will be back unless they change the dogs back again. Really sad.

First time here. My friend and I stopped for lunch while we were in the area, and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the corn dog combo with fries and a drink and she got the 1946 Pup combo. The fries were deliciously crispy and not overly salty. My corn dog was perfectly crunchy on the outside with a nice soft/sweet cornbread coating surrounding a perfectly plump hot dog. The decor is super cute, and our food came in the most adorable little trays in the shape of a dachshund. Fun fact we learned, The Doors recorded the lyrics for the song LA Woman…how cool is that?!?! They also have some cute merchandise for sale…so I had to get t-shirt. ☺️

If you love genuine vintage LA culture and perfect hot dogs and burgers, this is your place. The fact Jim Morrison sang in the bathroom is just an extra. And don’t let the hot dog fool you, they also have the best burgers around, thanks to that crispy cheese.

We’ve been wanting to go here ever since it re-opened and it didn’t disappoint. We are not a huge fan of hot dogs in general, but if we were to go out for a dog, this place is near the top of the list. The dogs had a good snap to them and tasted delish. The chili was peppery with a slight kick; perfect for a topping on the dog or fries. Plenty of seating indoors or outside. They even have the coca-cola mix machines so you can create any flavor combo you like. Our only gripe was that it is fairly expensive for the portion size. I expected more fries and a larger dog for the prices they charge. Bathroom was clean. Depending on time of day, parking could be tough.

We were quite disappointed with our chili dogs, which we were eager to get.Unfortunately, the dog itself was tougher than tough. The chili had so much spices that it almost tasted gritty. The place itself is really cute, but I would recommend the steamed dog unless you like extra tough skinned dogs.

Tail o’ the Pup is a classic hot dog stand that has been around the Los Angeles scene since 1946. As well as with Pinks, it is one of the longest lived hot dog stands in this neck of the woods.
The original stand survives to this day and was in the Beverly center before moving it to WeHo on Santa Monica Blvd.
They offer a variety of food, which is normal fare for the Hot dig stand variety. Burgers, French fries, milkshakes, and the like. Obviously, their specialty are the dogs in which the name of the establishment proudly has in its moniker.
The dogs have a nice snap to them, and are cooked well throughout. You have a variety of different versions available to you such as Chicago, chili, ballpark, dogs famous through their respective years.
The choices are endless.
It’s historical. It’s a nice nook to escape from the Los Angeles insanity. It’s a time capsule of delicious proportions. Come on down and let the Dogs convince you on their own.
