Tai Shan Farms: Experience the Heart Soul of Hawaiis Farm-to …
Reviews
This is not your conventional restaurant, it’s a single open air building on a farm run by a man named Kevin who does all the cooking and service! We got the daily special (salad, entree and dessert for $35) of ahi tuna with wasabi aioli and it was AMAZING!! Dessert (Basque cheesecake with lilikoi sauce) was incredible too.
The live music from Tommy Pasami was amazing and really solidified the vibes here.
Feel free to bring your own bottle of wine or other alcohol because only alcohol-free drinks are sold here. If it’s a busy night, be prepared to be a little patient waiting for the food but it’s well worth it. 100% my favorite dining experience on any Hawaiian island I’ve been to so far!
We grabbed a table next to the fire and had a romantic meal overlooking the farm while listening to Elizabeth Curry, the musician, play lovely tunes on the piano. The food is all local and fresh, and most importantly, totally gluten free. The grass-fed beef was perfectly juicy and paired well with Kevin’s homemade bbq sauce. His fries are some of the best we ever had. I told Kevin I’d never had passion fruit before. He walked away, plucked it right off the tree, and served me fresh passion fruit. You must save some space for his dessert. We had the panna cotta, basque cheesecake, and a mango pistachio bar – all of which provided a refreshing ending to a lovely meal. $50 for 2 entrees, 1 side, and 3 desserts was a steal. Don’t skip out on this hidden gem!
The atmosphere is great, the views are great, and the friendly locals took the time to stop at our table and say hi. That doesn’t happen everywhere – and that’s cuz its SLOW.
My wife is celiac so she was able to have fried food at a restaurant, which is a huge treat. Thank you Kevin!!!!
PS Be kind, pay cash.
Everything on the menu is gluten-free, which was a delightful surprise. The owner and chef, Kevin, greeted us warmly and shared that he crafts every dish gluten-free. For someone who eats gluten-free, this was music to my ears!
We ordered burgers, and they were nothing short of amazing. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly paired with fries that hit the spot. Additionally, we couldn’t resist taking some baked goods for dessert—a brownie and a chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie. Both were heavenly and the perfect sweet ending to our meal.
Kevin’s dedication to his craft shines through in every bite, and his personal touch adds a unique charm to the dining experience. We’re already planning our next visit! If you’re on the island, this is an absolute must-visit for gluten-free food lovers.
