Social Profile:

October 16, 1909 For the first time in their country’s history, American President William H. Taft and Mexican President Porfirio Díaz met for a summit in the El Paso-Juarez border to negotiate over the land commonly known as El Chamizal. President Taft hosted a traditional, conservative luncheon at the El Paso Chamber of commerce. President Diaz, staying true to his demeanor, served an opulent dinner in the old Federal Customs building in Juarez. Private discussions were had and plans were made. TAFT-DÍAZ serves as a testament that great things can flourish when you welcome others at your table. Our purveyors are as passionate about their produce, products, and the final experience as we are. This restaurant is my new favorite in all of Las Cruces and El Paso. It was absolutely amazing! Our server Veronica was great and did an amazing job. The food was SO GOOD! We had the Beet and Burrata salad, the Mexican Butter(one of my favs), the Sea Bass and the NY strip. Everything had such good, varied and unique flavors. The mocktail my wife ordered was hibiscus, cinnamon and grapefruit. You wouldn’t think those flavors would meld together, but it was fresh, warm and tangy all at the same time. We finished with the souffle and earl Grey ice cream. The passion fruit and coconut in the souffle were so good together. It was such a perfect end to a fantastic meal. The manager was very kind and came and talked to us. He came up with the mocktail. Very unique! We will definitely be back. By the way if I could give it more stars if I could. I dont know how anyone could give this less than 5 stars! They’re trippin’!

After spending nearly two months at the Stanton House for business, we frequented Taft Diaz multiple times per week, and it was always something I looked forward to.

Great consistency, attentive service, quality dishes, large wine list, and basically no complaints.

It is not cheap, and some might find it precious, but given the level of food, I think it’s a decent value.

Highly recommend the beet and burrata salad, the half chicken, the salmon, and any of the tacos.

Looking forward to returning soon.

I came to celebrate my birthday and this place is great. If you want to try something new this is it, flavors like nowhere else in El Paso. Fine dining, every dollar worth. Service was great, our waitress Eva was amazing, and Oscar welcomed us to the experience. Everything was in its right place, no disappointment, good through and through.

We recently dined at Taft Diaz for their prix fixe menu experience, and unfortunately, it was a major disappointment — especially for the price point.

The meal cost $350 for two, not including drinks, which we expected would reflect a high-end, thoughtfully curated experience. Sadly, the food was mediocre at best. I’ve genuinely had better steaks at Texas Roadhouse, which says a lot considering the premium pricing here.

We also paid an additional $50 for a caviar appetizer, only to realize it was essentially the same item we received in the first course — a potato casserole with minimal caviar. The “upgrade” amounted to slightly more potato and a bit more caviar, but it absolutely did not justify the added cost. To make matters worse, both dishes were served cold.

The value simply wasn’t there. For a restaurant positioning itself as elevated dining, we expected distinct courses, exceptional flavor, and attention to detail. Instead, it felt repetitive and underwhelming.

To top it off, the final dessert course was a shared, very small heart-shaped cake that tasted store-bought. For a prix fixe experience at this price level, a single tiny shared dessert felt like an afterthought.

Overall, the evening felt extremely overpriced for what was delivered. We don’t mind paying for quality, but this experience did not meet expectations — especially considering drinks were not included in the base price.

We left feeling disappointed and unfortunately would not return.

Service was ok.

With big prices come big expectations. In this case the food fell a bit short for us. On the plus side, the restaurant is beautiful and has great atmosphere. The wait staff is professional and attentive. We had the rack of lamb and the sea bass. The lamb was thinly sliced and bland. My benchmark for expensive lamb is Biga in San Antonio. This didn’t come close and the price was similar. Sea bass was extremely salty and the risotto was overdone. However, the sea bass was cooked well. It was flaky and smooth and had a nice crust to it. Just could have used a bit less salt (and we like salt).

Very surprised and impressed. The restaurant gives you lounge feel with the setup and music they play.

What impressed me the most was the excellent service, better than the more expensive restaurants in the Borderland. What also impressed me was the food. From the clam chowder to the steak. Everything cooked to perfection. The steak was tender.

I highly recommend this place.

One of the best fine dining experiences in El Paso. You will pay for it… but the food is amazing!!

Appetizers: meatballs, bone marrow , roasted Brussels sprouts, and the house bread with rosemary raspberry butter is a game changer!!!

The service was awesome.

The executive chef even came to our table.

Don’t sleep on this place. Just make sure you get paid first…
