I had the western burger it was delicious, my husband had the pork tenderloin it too was very good. The patio is very nice with lots of tables and umbrellas. The inside of the bar needs a few things fixed (ceiling tiles with water damaged) but otherwise was very clean. Our waitress was terrific. She came back to our table many times making sure everything was good and removing empty glasses, bottles and plates.

Decent food but pretty expensive for what you get. Nice view overlooking the river but the Friday fish fry was overcooked pretty bad, the cod and walleye. You could tell it would have been good if cooked properly, but mine was chewy and the wife’s was so overcooked that she had to discard all the burned spots. Ironically, even if the fish was perfect, we wouldn’t order it again because it was $17.00 for 3 small pieces of cod and one larger piece of walleye. Fries are included though, unlike other sandwiches which only come with chips where there is a $2 upgrade fee for fries. No coleslaw included with the fish dinner. Little things make a difference especially at that price. We may try it again for the burgers so I’ll have to update after that. Had to knock it from 4 stars down to 3 after reading other reviews seeing that the fish fry was supposed to come with cole slaw…OURS DID NOT!! I guess I should have been suspicious and complained!! The vibe I’m getting about this place is that they get ‘enough’ business and just don’t care if they overcook food, take too long, forget part of your order etc. Must be nice to have a good location that keeps you busy, but I can guarantee one thing. If there were many places in Rockford with riverside dining, this place wouldn’t be near as busy and they’d be improving their flaws to stay competitive.

They need a little better signage to lead you to the entrance. The parking was plentiful, free, and convenient.
When we walked in, we were greeted by a row of regulars sitting at the bar. They were very friendly but we definitely felt like outsiders. It was a fantastic place to watch football on a Sunday afternoon because they had 3 different games going.
There was a beautiful fireplace but it was not going and had stuff in front of it. We had the misfortune of choosing a table in direct line of the door to the back deck and were blasted with cold air when people would go in or out that door.
They had several soups to choose from the day we were there it was chicken and dumplings, chili or beef stew. The menu is varied having tacos, pizza and typical bar food. We had sandwiches and chicken strips at our table and it was all served hot and fresh.

After a few visits for lunch, Tad’s has become a favorite, and one of the few spots still open for lunch all week. Be sure to try their incredible pizza options, while enjoying the view from inside or on the outdoor patio overlooking the Rock River. The fun and cozy ambiance is complemented by great service, with staff like Jennifer ensuring a good meal and a laugh. The food, beer & cocktails are reasonable priced, too. The food is bar food. It is done well but you know what you are getting. Our server was quick and attentive. The table we sat at was weather worn. We went there to sit outside by the river. It did not disappoint. I highly recommend for a chill hangout with anyone who is looking for a low pressure experience.

Food was good far as burgers go. Its a type of place where you can see them cook your food and there are some health codes that aren’t being met. Well there’s always a first for everything but probably won’t be back anytime soon.

Love the music on the deck. Love the crooners indoors: professional and amateur with karaoke. I used to have Karaoke Open Mic facebook to share where it was. Glad there is more in Rockford.

Great deck and outdoor bar, good burger. Great spot on the river. Reasonably priced. I wish there were no wake buoys north and south of the pier so it would be easier to tie up a boat and not worry about the people flying by.
