This was recommended by a coworker and ended up being one of our favorite stops on our business trip. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The environment was open and fun with lots of natural lighting. The food was amazing with good portions. I’ll definitely be making a stop back in the next time I’m in town.

Awesome food, service, and atmosphere! We loved Tacos California when they were in a food truck on 6 corners in Waterloo, and it’s great to see them have a beautiful location in Cedar Falls now. They bring something different from all the other great Mexican restaurants in town, with that unique California style. They have a lot of seating, and despite being busy, food came out fast. Prices are higher than fast food, but that’s true of about everywhere these days, and the portions are big. Check it out!

It’s Cafe-style and the chairs aren’t very comfortable, but it’s still worth checking this place out. You’ll usually find it quite busy because the food is GOOD. It’s order at the counter and go pick up your food style, but you won’t wait long for it to be prepared. The staff are friendly and patient, and the California Burrito is so unique you just HAVE to try it. (BTW – don’t forget to have an authentic Mexican – with real sugar – Coke out of a bottle.)

The Torta Birria was huge and packed with flavor…the Street Tacos Barria Ramen Combo was dynamite and the California Burrito was delicious as well. The Mexican Corn side was fantastic too..very good portion too.
A lot of delicious choices on the menu and weblook forward to getting back to explore the menu more!

There are many items to choose from. Street tacos, Birria tacos, burritos, tortas and even ramen. Don’t miss the sides such as fries and Esquites(Mexican street style corn)
My order was the birria and ramen combo.
3 birria tacos and a bow of the ramen. Roughly $16 and Included a drink
Want salsa and hot sauce? Don’t forget to ask at the pickup counter. There are many options to choose from
Tacos were hot fresh and delicious. Loved the crunch with each bite and the juiciness of the meats. I also was given a spicy hot sauce to pair the tacos with.
The Ramen was flavorful and the noodles were Al dente. It was a nice surprise to find shredded beef and cheese included! The ramen also doubled as dipping sauce for the tacos
Overall I had a very pleasant experience and will be returning.

Idk why I waited so long to try this spot! So delicious! We got some birria tacos and taki elote, was so beyond good. I will def be back! We came at a weird time between lunch and dinner so it was empty and we had it all to ourselves! 10/10 if your craving elote, this is the spot! Next time I will try the flaming hot cheese elote and come back with pics! It was so good I didnt even get any

I was expecting more, I’m always trying new and popular Mexican places, but I did not like the food here. The meat was slightly over seasoned on the tacos, a bit too salty and greasy. It was not the good greasy kind, I could taste more grease when I was done with the tacos, then the flavor. The Torta was a good portion, but I’m confused why they choose to go with that kind of bread. The bread looked like a French bread you could buy from Walmart for $1. I’m not sure why they don’t have good homemade Mexican bread for tortas. Other places have a good representation of Mexican tortas for less and better quality. Meat was a bit too salty, Tacos were too greasy, and items slightly overpriced for the quality.

UPDATE 2/12/2026: Decided to give this place another try and I’m glad I did. The food quality seems to be back like it was before, which is to say VERY good. The choripollo street taco was especially good. Great work, keep it up!

The food quality has really gone downhill in the last few months. The steak for the tacos and steak burritos has been about 25% inedible gristle the last 3 times I’ve gone.
I used to love this place, and I’m going to give them another try, but if I get one more hunk of gristle I’ll never go back.
