It’s in a terrible location and the parking lot where it’s located is torn. But the tacos are the best street tacos I’ve had in Des Moines. My favorite are the asada, chorizo and al pastor. Take cash with you because half of the time they’re machine for credit cards is broken.

This sounds like an exaggeration, It’s not. This is one of the best meals in Des Moines. I’ve never had a burrito like this anywhere else. I grew up in Southern California. I’ve eaten a few tacos. This place is amazing. The picture is of the carne asada burrito. It’s not steak, it’s ground chuck – you won’t care. You won’t want a steak taco after this. The hot sauce is amazing. How good could taco sauce be? Pretty dang good. As of summer 2022, one of these burritos is eight bucks. Don’t have eight bucks, split one with a friend. It’s a big burrito. Everything else is top notch. Don’t like burritos or tacos? Get a “torta”. If you haven’t had one, it’s a big sandwich – almost as good as the burrito.

Tacos Villanueva never disappoints. My husband had 4 steak tacos [sorry no pic]… and he helped with a few bites of my enormous chorizo burrito. Delicious . The ingredients were perfectly distributed throughout the slightly crispy tortilla. They’re always friendly. I also love that they have a row of picnic tables.

I got the chicken burrito and pork tacos which were both very delicious. The pork tasted strong of clove, which paired well with the tomatillo salsa. I love that they even came with grilled jalapeño and onion. I was a bit bummed that the radish slices weren’t fresh.

Steak tacos and quesadillas are so good! Quesadillas came out hot and slightly crispy. Red sauce also tasty. Probably my favorite taco truck.

Now I’m hesitant about sharing my experience about this taco truck…as much as I want them to be successful, I don’t want to increase the wait time for my food. Haha! Seriously though, this truck is AWESOME. Not flashy, not gimmicky, just damn good. 10 tacos and a burrito runs you between $30‐$40 and they aren’t like some other places that inflate the price to deliver something that tastes like it was microwaved.
Personally, with food trucks, you LOVE them, or you hate them. There’s nothing to hate about this truck. Go, enjoy, and tip well. These guys take care of you!

Love this taco truck.
They have the most authentic tacos ever, reminding me so much of SoCal, my home state. They do NOT put potatoes in your food! When I’m close enough to them in the area, they are the first place I hit for, SOFT CHICKEN STREET TACOS and they have the BEST *HOT* SAUCE EVER to go onto your tacos!
