I’ve been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid. It’s been a neighborhood landmark on 63rd street for many years. A true hidden gem in Chicago. I recommend the chilaquiles verdes with rice and beans and the quesadillas. Great food, good service.

Friendly staff, great food, affordable… what more could you ask for? I recently decided to give them a try again after about 11 years and it’s still great. I ordered two quesadillas with chorizo, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. The masa is soft and the quesadilla shell has a great crunch. Very filling but also light enough for a lunchtime meal. Will be going again and I can see myself frequenting this place!

This is a cash only establishment that has been here for 32 years. Do yourself a favor and order their quesadillas. They are unique to this place. It is nothing like a traditional quesadilla. The fresh masa is grilled fried and stuffed with your choice of meat. You feel like you just had a fresh meal from your Tia or abuelas house. Everything is made fresh to order.

Best lil hole in the wall you’ll find in Chicago. They have some bomb fried quesadillas. Beware there are about 20 seats and you will leave with the smell of fried oil. You will also leave with a fully satisfied belly

Where do I start? I went in on a weekend afternoon and was immediately surprised by how aromatic the inside of the restaurant was! The service was great, the guys behind the counter are all personable and welcoming, and the food knocked it out of the park. The quality is just hard to match – the salsas and tamales really take this place to another level. Stop in!

I’ve been going there since 99′ whe I worked in the area. Now I don’t work anywhere near there, but I make the trip usually once a month. The wife is always kind out front, and the husband can always be heard whistling in the back.
Best Mexican food in the city.

I love this place. Been going here since i was a kid. I went to culinary school for four years and honestly with all the experimentation of going out and eating at other places for Mexican food, it just doesn’t come anywhere into comparison with this place. Sure its small and of course a lot of people will say that the food isn’t good but in all honesty it is the best food I’ve ever tasted. Traditional Mexican food with traditional taste. And the prices are cheap for the quality you receive. I love this place. The woman at the counter already knows my family. and when I had a kid his first taco came from there and I hope that they’re still there when the next generation comes.

I value the close atmosphere and warmth that this restaurant brings to its costumers. The owners establish a deeper connection to their costumers beyond the food by engaging in conversations. If you’re not into that, this place is still the spot for you if you are looking for authentic Mexican dishes. There is also a myriad of choices you can select from such as mariscos or the classic tacos. This place will not disappoint.
