You can tell they’re still trying, but it’s just not the same. I even noticed a “Help Wanted” sign up front, and it feels like they’re struggling with manpower like so many small businesses right now. Unfortunately, that lack of help is starting to show in the food and consistency.
I really hope they bounce back to what they once were, because this spot used to be one of my favorites.
The moment they hit the table, I knew I was in trouble—the good kind. The trompo was spinning like it was performing a magic show, and whatever spell it cast worked, because these tacos had me rethinking every bad meal I’ve ever had.
The meat? Juicy, smoky, perfectly seasoned, and so tender it practically apologized for every dry taco I’ve eaten in my life. The pineapple? A sweet little kiss of flavor that made me consider writing poetry. And the salsa? Just spicy enough to remind me I’m alive.
I took one bite and immediately understood why people fall in love too fast. These tacos are THAT good.
Highly recommend if you enjoy:
✔️ Food that makes you close your eyes and hum
✔️ Questioning whether you should order 3 more (you should)
✔️ A life-changing taco experience
Absolutely elite Al Pastor. Will be back. Probably tonight.
Highlights of the menu:
1. Lengua tongue
2. Tripa intestine
3. Chorizo
4. Pork belly
5. Pork head
Ok. So I was really excited to try this place out because I’ve lived in t.j. & know my mexican tacos. The taste is kinda similar. Kiiiinda. Yes the handmade tortilla is a bonus but not many taco stands out there have homemade tortillas (they just have a great authentic taste) meat was ok. I never add salt to my food and these needed more salt
Most reviewers also commented on the price & I agree. I think it’s a bit much $2- $2.50 for a taco that size. I usually eat 3 tacos anywhere else. I had to order 7 here to get full. ($17.50) They aren’t very generous on their meat portion either. Maybe if they add 2 tortillas it would be more satisfying? More for your buck?
The SALSAS! The red is . So so hot but good. I think this the only thing that stood out. Oh And guac is great add on too
Bonus: they take venmo and for an extra charge
Tijuana usually has a variety of sides to choose from like cucumber , cebollitas, beans & a variety of SALSAS. This place only has 2 salsas, radish and tiiiiiiny sliced lemons. Love how they kept the salsa “bar” nice and clean. (Please add ice to keep salsas cool. Temp of food people! After all were not in tj)
They don’t carry salt! I asked for some and the lady said they don’t carry any. ♀️
The adobada is not on & cooking. They cut the meat from the “trompo” & grill it. So it’s just a “show” but now I’m wondering why the meat is out there for hours & not refrigerated. The lady said it gets too hot which is totally understandable but please put in refrigerator.
They also keep their cooked meat out of their container & half way in the container and cutting board. It took about 30 min to get my order & the meat just stood there. They need to control the temps and put their meat away (pic included)
Will I go again? No. But at least I tried it and for those who want to get fresh small homemade tortillas, good guac on a taco this is your spot.
First off, the quality of the ingredients seemed questionable. The meat was chewy and overly greasy, and I couldn’t tell if it was just overcooked or sitting around too long. The tortillas were handmade and tasted a little stale, which made the whole experience even more disappointing. I also tried their salsa, but it had an odd aftertaste, almost like it had been sitting out for too long.
With my order they provided me limes clearly old with the brown dark edges around them.
The service was fine, nothing special, but the wait time was longer than expected for a food truck that wasn’t even busy. I was hoping the food would make up for it, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t great.
I wouldn’t say it’s the worst taco truck out there, but with so many better options around, I don’t see myself coming back anytime soon. Maybe they just had an off day, but for now, I’d recommend looking elsewhere for a more satisfying taco experience.
