Came into Tacos & Tequila in Traverse City and ordered the Carne Asada Tacos – easily some of the best I’ve had around here. The steak was perfectly grilled, super tender and juicy with great char flavor, topped with fresh cilantro, onion, cheese, and that creamy green sauce that tied it all together. Loved the little sides that came with it too – pickled onions, extra sauce, cucumbers, and a lime wedge to squeeze over everything. Chips and salsa (that green one is addictive) were a nice starter.
Drinks were spot-on as well,
solid margaritas and a huge selection of tequilas if you’re in the mood to explore. Service was friendly and fast, and the vibe is fun and casual.
Highly recommend if you’re craving real deal tacos. I’ll be back next time I’m in town!

5 stars would come back next time we are in town.
The chips were delicious, the rice had a ton of flavor, the house marg was way beyond my expectations for a house margarita. Tacos also packed with flavor! The regular marg is big the medium is huge, I can’t imagine what the large looks like!

This is the best Mexican cuisine I’ve had in years. Even the chips n salsa n ranch (see pics) was amazing! The flautas were delicious, the carnitas were very tender and tasty. The large Margarita was outstanding! Will be back for sure!

My boyfriend and I are from the south and visiting and have been hunting for new places to try so we decided to stop here and give it a whirl. We ordered chips/salsa. Along with enchiladas/street corn. Food was very bland. Service was great but food was a no. We will not be returning unfortunately

I hate going downtown because of parking, but I’m really happy that I tried this place. Waiter had a hard time with English but everything I order was correct including changes. All the staff were very friendly. The food was absolutely amazing, and came out 3 minutes after I ordered and it was scorching hot. Prices were excellent, especially considering the location. Menu was huge and also a huge drink selection. They also have open air seating which is very cool. The atmosphere was simple but beautiful and a chill vibe. I have light sensitive eyes, and didn’t think it was too bright as another reviewer said. Really was perfect and my new favorite Mexican restaurant.

Visited for lunch today with my in-laws. There were six adults and everyone ordered something different. I got the steak fajita quesadilla and let me tell you, there was no shortage of meat, cheese or veggies packed in there! The steak was so tender that I cut it with a fork!
My husband got the hot and spicy burrito and it was also packed with meat. It wasn’t overly spicy but it had an enjoyable warmth to it. The group also ordered the spicy shrimp, chicken mini tacos, house burrito, chips/salsa and the carnitas. Everyone loved their dish and the shrimp were very spicy!! Yum!
House Margarita was fresh and tasty and the jalapeño margarita had a great bite to it. We all proclaimed that we make it a plan to go again soon.

We arrived late and we’re the only ones in there. Worst case for walking into a restaurant. As soon as we were greeted we were treated with amazing service and smiling faces. The salsa – delicious. The margarita – large and in charge, trying all the spicy margaritas in town and this one is in the running. Then came the food – I claimed I wasn’t hungry – then the fish tacos arrived. DELICIOUS. At every turn we could have had a “less than” experience, instead they exceeded expectations in every way. Hoping them all the success in the downtown restaurant business!

The best authentic Mexican food in the area with a massive menu to please the pickiest eaters. My kids that don’t eat anything loved the plain beef and cheese nachos. They are brand new but have no doubts about them becoming a huge hit and the decor is balances and well though out. Tortilla soup could use a little more spice and salt but that’s just my personal preference but nonetheless delicious and very aesthetic wet burrito and burrito loco are huge

We’re from the south and good food has been hard to find in Michigan. This is the best by far. Good salsa, big margaritas, plenty of food for your money. Incredibly fast service. Its the only place we’ve suggested to other people this summer!

Fantastic food. Pollo Tacos and vegi burritos. Hispanic owned and great location downtown. Do NOT miss this. Need to dim the bright lights a little and a little art on the white walls too.
