One of my favorite taco places in the Denver metro. Their meat is extremely flavorful, their horchata is delicious, and I love that they have a salsa bar to grab as many toppings as your heart desires. The orange hot salsa is the best

Tacos were delicious! And very affordable. We got 6 tacos and a fountain drink, with a total after tip, $21. I’ll take that. Onions and cilantro, as all tacos should have on them. With a salsa bar for all other accoutrements. Cool vibe right off Santa Fe in the arts district. Will be back.

It’s hard to find a Mexican food place like this off Federal or Colfax anymore—quick, cheap, and delicious. Their tacos, quesadillas and sopas are all excellent. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about were the pollo tacos, but they were still good. The side of beans/rice is a very generous portion. We love the salsa bar. Please don’t change a thing!

Good variety and generous portions. We split a regular burrito with asada which was tasty. They offer a good selection of salsas. The horchata was on the watery side.

You’re likely looking for “Tacos Selene” on Santa Fe, as there’s no popular spot called “Taco Celine” in that area, but “Selene” is a well-known spot. This review is based on the Tacos Selene located at 1001 Santa Fe Dr.
Tacos Selene: A Denver Staple for Authentic Mexican Fare
Tacos Selene on Santa Fe Drive is a local institution, a no-frills taqueria that consistently delivers on flavor, authenticity, and value. While the name might be a slight departure from what you were searching for, the food is worth seeking out. This spot is a go-to for anyone looking for a truly satisfying and delicious meal, and its reputation is built on a menu of classics done exceptionally well.
The Breakfast Burrito:
For many, the day at Tacos Selene begins with one thing: the breakfast burrito. This isn’t just any breakfast burrito; it’s a hearty, generously sized flour tortilla packed with fluffy eggs, potato, cheese, and your choice of meat. It’s a filling and flavorful way to start your morning, and a favorite among locals. The beauty of it lies in its simplicity and fresh ingredients. Be sure to get there early as breakfast is only served until 10 AM on weekdays and 11 AM on weekends, and it’s popular for a reason.
The Smothered Burrito (The “Mother Burrito”):
While the menu doesn’t use the term “mother burrito,” the Smothered Burro is likely what you’re thinking of, and it is a true masterpiece. This is a massive, and deeply satisfying meal. The burrito is filled with your choice of meat, rice, and beans, and then completely submerged in their rich and savory pork green chile. Topped with a generous layer of melted cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato, this is the ultimate comfort food. The green chile is the star of the show—it’s got a deep, smoky flavor with just the right amount of heat to make it exciting without being overwhelming. It’s a meal that’s both a challenge and a delight.
Daily Specials and Menu Highlights:
While Tacos Selene may not have a rigid daily specials schedule, their main menu is essentially a list of specials in itself, offering great prices on high-quality food. Their street tacos are a must-try at just over $3 a piece, with options like Carne Asada, Al Pastor, and Carnitas that are flavorful and tender. The salsa bar is a huge plus, offering a range of house-made salsas from mild to fiery, allowing you to customize your meal to your liking. They also offer menudo on Saturdays and Sundays, a classic and hearty soup that is a perfect cure for a cold day or a rough night.
In a city with countless Mexican restaurants, Tacos Selene stands out for its authentic flavors, generous portions, and a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. It’s a true taste of home for many, and a delicious discovery for everyone else be sure to ask for Catherine. She goes above and beyond.

I moved to Denver from San Antonio recently, and these are the best tacos I’ve tried in Denver so far! Everything is very reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly. My partner and I love coming here anytime we’re on Santa Fe street. Highly recommend!

This place always hits the spot! Great prices. Hibiscus agua Fresca is so good. Recently tried the barbacoa quesadilla and it was the best quesadilla I’ve ever had. I also love all of their salsas

Tacos Selene does not miss! Every single taco was a flavor adventure. Their sopes made me miss little village in chicago. All of this goodness at these prices is incredibly hard to find. I will be back soon and often.

We visited because reddit said the burritos are good. I thought they were a bit bland. They are massive and I recommend sharing. Elotes came in a massive cup the size of a Starbucks grande.

Best food, and salsa bar. Kind employees and great service. Call your order in to save time. $2.50 tacos. $12 fully loaded and smothered burritos. It this $12 is the highest priced menu item. Just great quality authentic food and insanely low prices. What more could you ask for in this economy?
