So I have mixed feelings here. First, I want to clarify that I am talking abkut the location in Vinton on Hardy rd, as I know there are several locations. Also, I will say the food was pretty good, although I believe a touch on the expensive side since a lot of items do not come with any sides and they must be purchased separately for an extra 5 to 8 dollars per side.
Now, onto the center of my only 3 stars. On their menu they have large burritos, steak or chicken, (1) 10.99 (2) 17.99 which is listed above several of the specialty burritos. My son was looking at the Rojas burrito but didnt really want a lot of the sauces that came on it so when the waitress came to the table I asked what comes in the large steak burrito. I asked if it is just meat, or comes with cheese and/or rice and beans inside. She was very confused by the question, so I pointed to the menu that said steak, large burrito, 2 for 17.99. She then proceeded to tell us that it came with rice, beans, lettuce, Pico de gallo, and cheese. I verified again by pointing to the menu that this burrito that just says steak comes with rice, beans, lettuce, Pico and cheese. She then shook her head and repeated the same thing back to me. She then asked if we wanted 1 and I said no, the 2 please. She said 2, I said yes, she shook her head yes and wrote it down.
Next I ordered the tongue tacos. She shook her head no like she didnt understand. I then said it again. She just stared at me, so I said tongue tacos in Spanish. She just laughed and shook her head no. I then literally pointed to the tongue tacos on the menu and she said “oh, chorizo tacos”. I shook my head no and finally pointed to my own tongue and said tongue tacos yet again. She finally shook her head yes and I told her I would like 3. She then asks if I want 1, I yet again said no, 3, and held up 3 fingers. I also ordered a cob of street corn that she verified 2 times for “cob” and I shook my head yes.
When the food came, the street corn cob I ordered came in the bowl, which was more expensive, but whatever, but my sons 2 for 17.99 burritos where huge. We all laughed and said one would have been enough. I questioned if this was 2 steak burritos and the same waitress shook her head yes. Again, I will say here the food was good. I have no complaints over the taste of everything and we had a nice meal. However, then the bill came. We were charged for 2 California Burritos, which were $18.00 EACH. Now it made sense why they looked like they did! No where in our conversation was this ever discussed, pointed to or talked about. I had to go get the menu again to see where it was even listed. Sure enough, the Cali Burrito comes with all of the things she listed that came in the steak burrito. My dad, who was the one paying, asked about and the hostess verified that the waitress put in 2 California Burritos and since we technically got them, he paid for it. However, I went back up and spoke to the hostess and waitress together (they were the only visible employees there) and explained that yet again, we NEVER mentioned the California Burrito. I got the menu and showed the hostess what I pointed to and what was discussed. By the way, the cali burrito is pretty far apart on the menu from the 2 for 17.99 in case anyone thinks it was a mistake in understanding what was pointed too. As I am pointing, the waitress goes, “yes, you wanted burrito with rice, beans, lettuce, Pico and cheese. California burrito”. Um, no ma’am, I asked YOU what came in a specific menu item and YOU are the one who told me that description. She just picked a random burrito on the menu and charged us for it.

Now, for anyone who is saying, oh, it was just a miscommunication or language barrier issue: Even if there was verbal communication issues, which I have NO issue working around and with, there was multiple pointing to specific items and multiple verifications. Not understanding the exact words is one thing, blatantly not understanding menu items that are directly pointed and then randomly picking something else is another.

This place is very good. It has authentic food and the people here are really nice. First chips are on the house and the rest they charge you for but food cost money. I’ll be back for sure. Highly suggest the cheesey birria tacos. Drinks are great here too.

Waited for this location to get their ABC license before trying it for the first time, because how can you have Mexican food without a margarita?? Multiple Mexican restaurants have been located in this location over the years, and other than a little fresh painting inside, it’s pretty much the same atmosphere. Menu has some different options than all the other restaurants I’ve frequented, so I was hopeful they would bring some fresh tastes other than just the same old Mexican you get everywhere else. Unfortunately they did not. Taco Rojas is no better or no worse than all the other Mexican options in the Roanoke Valley, and trust me I’ve tried most of them. It’s just a shame that no one cares enough to bring Mexican food to another level in this area. Same flavors, same chewy chicken, just same old, same old. Waitress was friendly, but the language barrier was obvious when asking any questions at all. Margaritas were standard fare as well. Just really nothing at all to set this restaurant apart from all the other already available options.

Seriously so good! Go check this place out if ya can!
Pictured is the birria torta, birria tacos, enchiladas, and taco salad. All of it was great and the waitress was so kind.
I’ve had their tacos before and they are all great too.
Not pictured is their cheese sauce, which is the best we’ve ever had. They also make a chorizo queso dip that smacks. Legit, you will smack your abuela!

Had the Texas Fajitas and my husband had the Camaron Diablo! First of all the beans are fantastic! The salsa is definitely homemade! Just the right amount of cumin. The Fajitas are an original flavor that is delicious! The shrimp Diablo is spicy perfectly, addicting hot. Soooo good! Our waitress Claribel, was amazing and sweet! Service was great, tge texas margarita hit the spot. Will definitely be returning.

We ordered two entrees that contained ground beef. It tasted very salty and off. The waitress didn’t come back to check on us until we had almost completed our meal, or we may have asked for a different item. We just ate our food and tried to get past the overwhelming saltiness. An hour or 2 later, we were sick because of the food. I called to inform the manager and ask for a refund. However, they declined because according to the video, we ate our food and put our leftovers in a box. Well, food poisoning doesn’t occur instantaneously, it usually takes an hour or two to manifest. I was also informed that they remembered our table because I complained that they charged us $4 for chips and salsa. We asked for another dish, and they never mentioned it would be extra.
All in all, this was just a terrible experience and the manager was completely unconcerned that my family got food poisoning from their establishment. Which is a real shame, because I frequently visit their other locations. I don’t think I will be going back to any locations because of this regrettable experience.
Definitely do not recommend. Do not eat here, you may get sick.

First time at this location. Normally go to the hollins location which has been a 5 star for us every time. This vinton location was not clean at all. Waitress brought silverware wrapped in napkin with blood all over two sets out of the 4. We ordered the same thing we do in hollins. The birria tacos. They tasted nothing like the ones we normally get. They weren’t bad but weren’t good. After finishing our meal I went to the restroom. The toilet seat & top was down. When I went to open it completely came off. Wasn’t screwed down to the toilet so had to set it in the floor. I went to wash my hands no soap. The waitress that served had no clue which tells me she hasn’t washed her hands all day. Yuck! They did replaced the soap so I could at least wash my hands. When the check was brought it showed 11.3% tax. I asked why it was so high and then looked up restaurant/meal tax & it was not 11.3%. I asked them to adjust and she just took it off completely. Sketchy, shady and gross would not recommend.

I went with an employee. He was charged $4 for a tiny container of hot sauce. I got the Friday special (arroz con pollo) that was suppose to be 10.99. After we left, I noticed I was charged 13.99. I was also charged for 2 drinks because I asked for a drink to-go. My total bill was $24.45 for a $10.99 special with sweet tea.

I will not be going back!!

Seemed like a daycare more than a restaurant ‍♀️ Horrible horrible honestly save yourself from getting upset! We were sat, ordered food, came in 6 minutes max The quesadilla is more like an unfolded burrito! Quesadillas are pan seared and cheese melted, I asked for steak and got hamburger meat My boyfriend’s civiche looked like throw up! Couldn’t say nothing to the servers as they were babysitting children in the other room. Never came back to the table 1 time at all. We had to stand up and flag them from the other room. Never in my life and never again!

We went to get Margaritas and dinner at 6 pm on a Wednesday. Upon arrival, there was one car in the parking lot. The waitress that greeted us (by greet, she looked irritated we were there). We asked to sit outside and she led us to the outside seating area. We told her we wanted frozen Margaritas and water. She left, brought us chips and let us know the frozen Margarita machine wasn’t on and it would be 15 minutes, but offered on the rocks. Neat. Sure. She asked salt or sugar on the rim. We chose salt. Another female brought us Margaritas on the rocks with nothing on the rim. K. The drinks tasted like there was zero alcohol in them. We waited around 25 minutes. Never got water. No further contact from anyone. We finished our lime flavored water drink, then went inside to let her know we were headed out and why. No apology. Our bill was 29 dollars for two terrible Margaritas. It would’ve been neat to try the food, but we know how that would’ve ended up. Never going back. 107 Pollards staff is amazing! Go there. We had water, drinks, and a food order in within 5 minutes!
