Tacos Rojas delivers a menu packed with fresh, authentic Mexican flavors that truly impress. Every bite was delicious and perfectly seasoned, from the tender meats to the vibrant toppings. Friendly service and great taste make this a spot I’d gladly return to again!

Overall it was a great restaurant to stop and get lunch at. The prices are reasonable considering the quantity of food, consider sharing one dish between multiple people if you order a burrito or nachos.

There were pros and cons at Tacos Rojas. The pros were that the food was really good and they had amazing portions sizes. I’d recommend the Paco Burrito with birra if you are really hungry. Some of the cons were the location…. It seemed to be outdoor seating only as there was no real way to enter the building. Every door was locked and it wasn’t until the waiter came and said to sit wherever you like that we realized we had the right place. Also not sure if our waiter had an off day or due to the language barrier or he was new to serving or all of the above, he just could not get our request right. This does not take away from the amazing food but also don’t expect to alter or customize your entree much. All in all it was a pretty good place to grab a meal. Food was good and the drinks were cold, it just wouldn’t be my first choice.

Real deal Tacos Birria! With a cup of consommé a red and a green sauce, each taco loaded and doubled up atop a spare tortilla. I’ll be back to photo the proper dish not just the empty “it was that good all gone version” EDIT TO ADD: Birria is not a vegetarian dish, but there are many vegetarian choices here, and vegan friendly choices as well if you stick to vegetables, tortillas and red/green sauces (that are divine!) and leave cheese off of the items that include it. Note for vegans: dishes are cooked in skillets so there’s no risk of contamination of products from the same grill.
Ps: 2 tacos as shown was less than $12 all included
This isn’t a sit down restaurant with service. It is a belly-up-to-the-counter sitch, order and they bring it out to you with a smile. It’s all about the food and they won a “Best of Roanoke” award in 2025. It shows in the food, people.

I saw good reviews and websites recommending this place as best Mexican food. I decided to stop by and get lunch and I was truly disappointed. Not authentic at all, my quesadilla was made with Flour tortilla and the chicken wasn’t very tasty and lots of watery chicken broth that wasn’t very tasty either. My tacos were okay but I didn’t eat the tortillas, they were super greasy. Salsa verde was horrible, no taste and they water it down way too much. The only two tasty things were the flan & my horchata. I don’t recommend or plan on coming back.

The tacos are bomb, especially if you enjoy lengua! Service was casual. Atmosphere is inside of a cafeteria hall, so it can be a bit noisy, but you can sit outside on the patio during warmer months.

A great place to get Mexican food to eat in the Market Building. Very tasty and reasonably prices. Only complaint is it did take a few minutes to order, probably because it was the St
Patrick’s Day parade and there were a lot of people in line (food was ready in a few minutes.)
