What a bad experience I went with my wife and my child to buy tacos to take away and the person who made the tacos looked very reluctantly as if one was going to ask them for a gift! And it gives a very bad impression to the client, the lady asked him things and ignored her, that’s a lack of respect! And when he made my order he never put on gloves or used the health protocols he had 3 orders before mine and he never washed his hands or gloves!

The street tacos are very good. I had the steak street tacos. They are seasoned to perfection. The male chef today was amazing! He is very neat and organized. The small potato and grilled onions that comes with the tacos are super good! The rice is delicious. This place is definitely the number one taqueria restaurant in the Oak Cliff/West Dallas area. I look forward to coming back for more! Update 3/25/2025. I went back today but the male chef was not there so I ordered anyway. The customer service was really good but I prefer the male chef. He is much better in preparation! I’ll go back one day but only if he’s the cook.

I got a torta with Bistek. It was thoroughly delicious. The bread is fresh and warm. The beef was savory. The torta included crema, tomatoes some salsa and a little lettuce. The golden French fries on the side were awesome. The ladies here can prepare a tasty torta. There’s a small bar area in front but more space for families and groups in the back dining room. Parking might be tight at rush hour but you gotta risk it for the torta. (The foto doesn’t do justice to the great flavors)

Tacos Puro DF – Cockrell Hill, Dallas TX

From a distance, you just know it’s the real deal. Sparse gravel parking spots that challenge your suspension, a giant sign you can see from space, a quaint building that has probably seen its fair share of stories, and an intoxicating fragrance that lures you in before you even open the door. All classic signs of an authentic taco spot that’s worth your time.

Tacos:
The al pastor was solid, but didn’t quite blow my sombrero off. Surprisingly, it was the fajita meat that won me over—and I’m not usually a fajita kind of person. That was a plot twist I didn’t see coming. Sadly, I didn’t get to try the suadero or pork tamales because they were all sold out, which is probably the universe’s way of telling me I was late. The barbacoa had that deep, earthy seasoning I love from Southern Mexico, but if you’re from the North, it might be a bit more “exotic” than you bargained for.

Torta:
The torta was… well, let’s just say it wasn’t crowned King of the Meal. Flavor-wise, it was there, but it was a bit heavy on the ham and sausage. We ordered the al pastor torta, expecting some star action, but it felt more like a cameo appearance. However, points for the nicely toasted bread—crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. It’s a torta that’s got potential, but maybe just needs a little rebalancing act.

Aguas Frescas:
The pineapple agua fresca was delicious—like sipping on tropical goodness—until I realized it was more like a tropical glacier, 90% ice, 10% juice. Honestly, it felt a bit like ordering a Starbucks drink during peak ice season. But hey, at least they upgraded me to a large, and the reusable cup is a win. Bonus: I’m now the proud owner of yet another cup to put on my already overcrowded kitchen shelf.

Salsas and Sides:
The salsas came in those wonderfully authentic plastic baggies that make you feel like you’re smuggling delicious contraband. The green salsa was smooth with a solid kick—just enough to remind you it’s got character. The red salsa? Spicy, but in a “good decision with a little regret” kind of way. Pro tip: it pairs perfectly with the potato, plus a dab of salt and a squeeze of lime.

Summary:
Tacos Puro DF has all the signs of an authentic, no-frills taco joint that’s worth visiting—gravel parking, big signage, and flavors that hit home. The tacos are mostly on point, with the fajita meat taking a surprising win, while the torta could use a little less ham and a bit more balance. The pineapple agua fresca may have more ice than juice, but the sturdy cup made it almost worth it. And don’t sleep on those salsas—they’ve got the kind of heat that tells a story. If you’re in the Cockrell Hill area, it’s worth a stop, just be sure to arrive before they sell out of the good stuff!

Came in super late, not knowing they were closed. Yet they still treated me to THE MOST DELICIOUS TACOS EVER!! Have passed this place plenty of times and never thought to much, but man I’m so glad I did tonight.

Gained a long term customer now!! Definitely recommend! Unique flavors and delicious cut Bistec

I’ll start out by saying that the food was amazing. This is my new favorite taco spot in the Oak Cliff area. I will say that my dad and I felt a little uncomfortable while we were ordering, as a manager was scolding one of the workers at the cashier in front of us. My dad and I were patient though, there was no issue on our end.

The tacos were fresh and good. A little small on the portion size. They came with onions, red and green sauce, cucumber, and cilantro on the side.
