Tacos Pepe is SO GOOD!! The food was so well prepared and the portions were MASSIVE! Our server was so sweet. We’re pretty sure she was working by herself that day but she did such an amazing job and was so nice! This is was the first spot we tried during our visit to McAllen and it made us exited to try more local spots. We’ll definitely be back!

The front doors are not handicap accessible. It’s quite crowded inside, even without people. The birria papa was delicious, & the birria ramen was great. Sounding like my age here, but our great server can’t make up for the ridiculously loud TV in the middle of the day while it was dead. Other patrons were struggling to hold conversations, & a set of parents were told they couldn’t turn it down. Our poor server was manning the whole lobby, cleaning, & taking out curbside orders while the person at the register was on her phone for an hr & a half or, talking with the cooks.

If you have the patience, definitely come here. I ordered one order of tacos and waited 50 minutes. I called ahead and immediately let them know I arrived in my car outside. So much time passed, I went inside and let them know I was waiting for my order. The cashier was scrolling on her phone gossiping to another waitress right in front of me. A kind lady cleaning tables behind me had to help me after what she saw. That’s when the cashier put her phone down and asked me if I need help. As I was literally talking, not even finishing my sentence, she continued to talk to her co-worker. Eventually I paid and all of a sudden my order was ready real quick. (When I walked in, it wasn’t ready) Sadly, this isn’t my first time something like this happend to me.

Loved this place! The food was delicious, and everyone was super friendly. I recommend trying the Super Birria—it was amazing. I highly recommend Tacos Pepes and will definitely be coming back!

The price was misleading, $4 bucks above excluding the price they have in the menu. Supposedly it shows in the menu $18.99 and they charge me $23.93. Will not return.

They’re good but the kesotes do need a tortilla and the birria meat needs to be moist in some red sauce, the birria tacos would be better if they would put cheese and melt it as the kesotes. Overall it’s ok but not flavorful enough. It is overpriced for what you get. $13.50 for 4 tacos.
