The birria tacos at La Jefa are easily in the top three birria tacos I’ve ever had.

I found this place thanks to Reddit on a Tuesday when everything else was closed. It’s located in a shared kitchen space, but I was hungry and not turning around because of that, and I’m very glad I didn’t. That said I’m not going to give the atmosphere a 5 out’ve 5. You come here for the food. The woman who I believe runs the place was incredibly nice.

I ordered a horchata (not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely solid), and an order of birria tacos with cheese because… after being asked if I wanted cheese, who’s really going to say no to that?

The tacos were unreal. They were straight-up sexy. I’m not entirely sure what happened between my first bite and my last, I just know my mood was genuinely lifted afterward.

I’ve only tried the birria tacos so far, so I can only speak to those, but if you’re craving birria and find yourself within a three-five hour drive of the STL area, hop in the car and do yourself a favor.

Thank you so much!!!

Food was absolutely delicious! Authentic! The service was great. Its a shared kitchen concept. The lady even came around a couple times and asked if we were doing OK or needed anything! Definitely will be back!

Absolutely delicious quesabirria, and for a great price for about $14!! I got a large beef one to take home and my mom thought it was going to eat her before she’d eat it lol. Rich broth, crispy texture and was brought out in less than 10 minutes. The restaurant is featured at a shared food hall with two other stalls, and there was maybe seating for 20 people or less, so be aware. Very casual atmosphere, and very friendly staff and neighboring customers.

Was on Cherokee yesterday, pulled up to a place that was closed permanently? Sadly pand I asked a man coming out the grocery where to get tacos and he directed me to this place and said they had the best tacos and turned out, he was RIGHT!!! I got the birria plate and the horchata drink and oh my God so delicious, everything was so fresh. Thank for taking the time out of your day to send me here, he was like a food angel. Ill be coming back over and over.

We went to the Dia De Los Muertos (day of the dead) street festival in the Delmar Loop and we ate at their booth. I ordered two street tacos, one asada and one carnitas and a chicken quesabirria. The street tacos did not have cheese which was okay because I ordered an extra taco. The meat in the street tacos was tender but a little under seasoned. The chicken in the quesabirria was shredded but it was a little chewy. The flavors were good and it was filling. I will visit their restaurant soon.

If I could give this business a million stars I would the food is so good omg the smell hits you soon as you walk in the door they are very friendly. The cashier today greeted me as soon as I walked in she was a little busy with the customers before me but got to me super quick today was my first time in and she helped me figure out how to place my big order. We also got beef burritos they were good too and huge I usually don’t like burritos but I’m changing my mind lol I will definitely be back this was so good

This place is interesting. I didn’t know what to expect no waiters seat yourself.. no menu on table gotta go ask for one.. Then I noticed a 2nd restaurant inside.. Vegan Food. But as for Tacos La Jefa. I ordered the quesabirra plate it was okay a-bit soaked Then I have the Mulitas it was burnt. But the lady graciously made it back over and baby! It was great and I love the hot broth. I most definitely gonna have to try them again to get a better feeling. I see ya soon!! I post the review on my Facebook page Djstatic StLouis. And on YouTube djstatic’s playhouse.

Impeccable food preparation and service! The food is made fresh to order. Fresh ingredients with a delectable presentation. The shrimp taco special exceeded my expectations… thick , creamy slices of avocado, fresh onions, cucumber and house made sauces. Enclosed are images of my food which tasted even better than it looked.

While I was waiting for my order, a woman told the cashier that she didn’t like Mexican food but she loved her meal and will be back.

Tacos La Jefa STL is absolutely scrumptious. The cooking staff are very sweet and grateful for all of their patrons. Try them , you will love it.
