This is my absolute favorite Mexican food place. The asada tacos are second to none and they always include Chiles toreados which is my favorite part of the meal. Some places don’t do spicy salsa well but tacos el viejon does it really well. Their rice is excellent too. The staff is always nice and welcoming and the atmosphere is super chill. If you want good mexican good this place is legit.

I wanted so badly to like this restaurant based off of their menu, but I just didn’t. It started with the cheese dip. You pay $6 for a tiny bowl that’s barely big enough for one person. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and I liked them okay but the fajitas were simply not good. I am used to fajitas that are heavy on the meat with veggies added in, but their fajitas were essentially a bed of onions with literally 6strips of meat placed across the top. The flavor of the fajita chicken was simply not good. The 3 strips of steak meat was the best part of the dish and it was just okay. The rice was a plate of dry mush…it was weird. As for the atmosphere, flies everywhere! I couldn’t take a bite without shooing a fly away. It was annoying and kind of gross bcuz if it’s that way in the front of the house, what’s it like in the kitchen?? I doubt we will visit this restaurant again. There are too many other options and I’m not willing to risk repeating such a bad experience.

Wasn’t my best experience dining out, to say the least. Ordering was slow & awkward. Service is weird. Tip has to be decided right when you walk in. Food was pretty good. Definitely still relishing in the food truck days, as everything was served on paper plates with disposable silverware.

If you’re looking for amazing street tacos, this is the place. My husband and I ordered 4 corn tortilla tacos. Pastor, Asada, Pollo, & Chorizo. Best tacos we’ve found in a long time. Pastor was my favorite. Excellent flavor. Served with grilled onions and jalapeños on the side. Toppings bar excellent as well. Fresh and clean food.

I love the food here but the last 2 times I have been here they forget to add avocado to my torta. Which makes me very mad. The first time they had no excuse, and the second time they said it was bc they have new hires. Which i dont believe. I asked the lady who took my order if there was avocado in my meal for the same reason and she said yes. I got home, and no avocado in 3 meals (tortas) i had bought. Very upset. All they said they could do was give me a meal. And I was like, what about the other 2 two you messed up there order for the second time? I will not be coming back, and will not recommend this place at all. I rather go to taco bell at this point.
Just a dry bun with meat, onion and cilantro on it.
Oh and they still asked for a tip when I was paying for my food.
We wont be coming back

Currently resides in a food truck outside their soon to be open restaurant. This family is friendly and fast. There is always a line because it is good, but the wait is usually only a few minutes and the food is worth it.
The pastor and asada tacos are especially satisfying. It will be nice when the restaurant opens, but the good truck is very convenient.

I paid 50$ for 1 burrito 2 steet tacos and a torta. I ordered online and when I got home and started eating…. magically I have 1/3 of the food I ordered . If you want good Mexican food get it from white restaurants. I’m sure if my last name was Sanchez or Ramirez my order would have been right

Yes! So glad I stopped in! Tacos El Viejon is the real deal, with fresh topping bar on-site and great atmosphere. I started with pork and chorizo tacos and will come back for chicken and other protein options next time. Fresh guac was the perfect side for the fresh chips with a Doritos-like dusting. Friendly staff, and not surprisingly, the line was near the door when I arrived for lunch. Bringing the whole crew back soon!

This place is the best! They have the greatest street tacos in Olathe and some of the best horchata I’ve ever tried! We are fans of their Al Pastor tacos, I’m partial to the Verde salsa but my husband who prefers more spice likes their Roja. Both are flavorful and delicious compliments to the food! We’ve also tried the quesadillas which are good, but we always come back for the tacos!

Great food but horrible service, waitress took like 10 minutes to even get us the menu and came back to check on us. She also didn’t even offer us chips and salsa, most likely not coming back again and definitely wouldn’t recommend to eat there, just take to go.
