Really enjoyed dinner! I had the beef enchiladas and they were going up against one of my top places. Tacos El Rey does not disappoint. The carne guisada with cheese was fair to decent but did not top my other location. Overall I’ll be recommending and coming back.

Cashier is rude as hell, want to over charge you for their tacos. Want to charge you $5 for a bacon n potato and $4.25 for carne guisada. Then they want to charge you extra for using your card. Food is decent but definitely not work the overpricing and rudeness of the old lady cashier.

I ordered a enchilada plate with rice and beans. The beans looked so over refried it looked so dark and no flavor. The enchiladas were ok, no salad came with the plate. I like my Mexican food that come with a salad especially enchiladas. Service was good but I really don’t know how much I was charged since they don’t provide an itemized receipt, just a credit card receipt.

Ordered the huevos rancheros. The bean’s tasted like can beans no flavor.
Thai salsa ranchera was bland.
The carne guisada had no flavor and was runny. Tortillas were chewy.
The only thing that was good was the coffee.
Oh and tea was weak!

You can have your choice of fried fish with in housemaid tartar sauce(the freaking best)or a chicken fried chicken with gravy both come with a sweet tea!! HUBBY loves the chicken fried chicken and I love the fish and tartar sauce; it’s always made to order. Always hot and fresh. It’s the best!

Restaurant floors and tables were clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful with food selections. Chip and salsa were delicious. Wow, cheese enchildas gravy is the best. Rice was moist and fluffy. Refried beans had great flavor. French fries were hot and crispy. Chicken fried steak was just ok….white gravy was great with fries.
I recommend stopping by for the lunch specials.

Been here before but it’s been awhile. This is a hidden jem love this Restaurant it’s on Castroville Rd. In the Westside they have the most delicious reasonable lunch plates Ever yesterday I ordered the meatloaf plate for lunch. This was the most delicious meatloaf❤️ the corn was flawless the smashed potatoes were amazing the toast had some buttery taste and was perfectly toasted. The salad was also very fresh and tasty. I will definitely keep coming back

Great staff, breakfast tacos is what this review is on. The taste was good. My complaint was the freshness. Chorizo con papa had good flavor but I could tell this was reheated. This was right after opening before 7am. That old refrigerator flavor/smell was in the food. The texture was hard and crunchy.
