A friend in the area introduced us to this friendly, local gem. I’ve enjoyed several kinds of dishes here and the food is uniformly good. Soups (pozole, lamb), tacos, burritos, seafood, rice and beans, fajitas, quesadillas, horchata; pretty much everything is tasty and reasonably priced.
There’s generally plenty of parking, the restaurant and bathroom are tidy and comfortable, and the waitstaff are accommodating and helpful.

12/10 experience here!! From being greeted promptly upon walking in, to a very attentive waitress (Kayla S) coming by right away with chips and salsa, to the selection of NA Corona, to THE BEST burrito (California Burrito) I have ever had in my life, to the most attentive and team work based service I’ve experienced in a long time. This place deserves everything! Completely changed my entire mood for the day and I will definitely be coming back !!

Our favorite local, family-run, go-to Mexican restaurant in the Chicago north shore area! Best margaritas and very good food and decent prices. The staff there are the kindest people and will make your dinner experience the best. They also offer take-out. Highly recommend!

Very friendly staff. Clean Restaurant. Food was good. Good prices. I prefer warm tortilla chips, rather than the cold ones they served. Tasty, and not too spicy, tortilla dipping sauce. Loved that it was over-accented with Cilantro. I enjoyed the Posole soup. It is tomato based with Pork pieces/homily. Delicious and well balanced and not too spicy. Again, loved that it had NO cilantro. Enjoyed the Julio taco. Beef with a onion/jalapeno slices. Hand held sized for $4.5 . A little pricey for such a tiny taco, but the flavor was delicious! My husband had 3 corn tortilla tacos. Tortillas were fried. Really tasty! I recommend this restaurant. It was filled with locals and visitors.

Fun atmosphere with delicious food! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I ordered the chicken enchilada dinner. My spouse ordered the footlong burrito. Very delicious! Also $6 margaritas during happy hour and they didn’t hold back on the tequila. Would highly recommend!

Not sure what happened to this taco place but I used to work in Lake Forest and I would go to tacos El Norte in Lake Bluff all the time I’d either get it for lunch or I’d go for dinner with a friend and the food was clean and it was great. I recently started getting food from there again because my son does something out in Lake Forest three days out of the week and I haven’t had tacos El Norte in like almost 2 years cause I no longer work in Lake Forest and the food is just absolutely terrible their tacos don’t taste like anything and twice now I have actually gotten massive stomach upset from their food so I’m not sure what’s going on there if something changed if the cook changed or if they’re using cheaper ingredients or there was a change in recipe, but it is just god-awful food now I just had to put in the review because this is like the fifth time we’ve gotten food from there in the past few months and it’s just not the same. It’s terrible.

The food was ok, nothing extraordinary. The size of the tampiqueña was small compared to other restaurants. There was a good amount of fat on it that was chewy and it lacked flavor. The guacamole didn’t taste fresh or authentic. The ladies that were the severs, really need to work on their customer service skills. There was no effort to smile or at least be nice. They looked irritated and unhappy with their job. The two stars are for the chicken flautas and the margarita that were both delicious.

Visited on a nice evening and sat on the outside patio. The food was very good, esp the taco salad. Service was quite attentive. We noticed that the indoor dining temp was set at quite chilly, so outdoors worked well.

I ordered carry out on a lunch break. Single tacos are $2.50 each. I got one chicken and one steak with avocado added. It was delicious. It comes with hot sauce: one green one red. My co worker got shrimp tacos. She loved it. The restaurant is beautiful inside.
