Very good food. I noticed that the chips were crispy as if they were just fried and the salsa was good. My sister had a quesadilla with steak and i had the birria tacos. Delicious!

We have been coming here since they opened, and they were great at first, but ever since like a year ago, their service and food has been degreasing in quality. Let me give you an example:
Went there yesterday, 5 of us, a guy sat us down, as usual on a mexican restaurant, they bring you chips and salsa. I noticed that the tray of chips was exceptionally small, like if I make a fist, the tray was not much bigger than my hand (see picture below), it could not have held more than 12-15 chips. So in between 5 of us, we finished that in 2 minutes, and given that he only brought 1, I asked for more chips, he looked at me and reluctantly brought a second tray… same story, this one had somewhat less chips. We waited about 15 minutes then I asked for more chips, and that is when he said, you only get 2, if you want more, then you have to pay for them??? I was like huh? what? he said, they were not supposed to be eaten like that, they were supposed to be eaten with the food? what?
Then we get out food, I ordered the Breakfast platter, other guests ordered the Torta Perrona and Torta de Birria, and quesadilla, and another torta. They all complained that it was WAY to salty, like they used too much condiment. Which has been the case the last 2 times we were there. And don’t bother complaining, they will treat you as if you are just trying to get something for free, hence why I complained after I paid.
They don’t let you share sodas, even if its for between 2 4 year old kids), and they don’t let you share plates? when did this start?
So sad, this was one of the best restaurants months ago, now by the looks of it, they are loosing a lot of customers.

Had a friend invite me saying it was such an authentic Mexican restaurant that he might be the only “gringo” they had ever served. Their homemade fried chips were better than most, but I had their mixed fajitas (add chorizo) and it was tasteless (no seasoning). My 11 yo daughter ordered a steak quesadilla, and when leaving she told us she thought her taste buds don’t work anymore. We said, “oh no sweetie, your taste buds work fine – apparently they just don’t season their food!”

If you don’t know already then you need to know that el champu has THE BEST tacos in Springfield. In addition, the smoked whole chicken they also offer is one of the best I’ve had. Great family owned experience and atmosphere with traditional music playing.

Today was our first visit. We were pleasantly surprised- they have excellent, authentic Mexican food! Very good chips and salsa. Service was good and prices are reasonable. They have $1 tacos on Tuesday and Thursday. This is our new favorite. We will definitely be back.

The food here is always good. I’ve had the birria tacos, taco salad, and enchiladas, the chips and salsa are fresh and flavorful. The service is always prompt, attentive, and welcoming.

Ate here tonight — I used to love this place and went all the time back when they had a location in Ozark, MO. Sadly, after tonight’s visit, I won’t be back. We ordered two orders of birria tacos and a large queso, and for what we paid, the portions were extremely disappointing. The “large” queso was maybe 2/3 of a cup of melted cheese, and each tiny cup of verde and hot sauce had only a few drops in them — yet I was still charged $4 for them.
The food itself tasted fine, but the tacos were smaller than my hand, and we left hungry after spending $56. On top of that, we had a baby with us and not once were we offered a high chair, nor did we even see one available. For the price and the experience, it’s just not worth it anymore — which is really unfortunate because I used to genuinely love coming here.

My Tacos were not great. My husband’s Torta Cubana was to greasy. Chip salsa was really good (best one I’ve had in a while), which had me with high expectations for the food, but was a little disappointed. We also ordered some Aguas Frescas, those were also really good. Service was really good as well.

We travel all over the USA 300+ days a year. This is THE BEST salsa I’ve eaten, EVER. I find a Taco Tuesday everywhere we travel, and hands down this place serves the best! I ❤️ their tacos too!
