This place is my favorite place to eat Mexican food in Colorado Springs. It’s always delicious and the recipes are the same at all locations. They have drive-throughs to make it even more convenient but going inside is the real icing on the cake due to their salsa/jalapeño bar. I highly suggest this location to anyone craving authentic Mexican food as well as the other 3 locations.

I’ve been coming here for a couple of years, most of the time the service and food is really good, tonight, not so much. I ordered huevos rancheros, a plate I’ve ordered on several visits but tonight it looked like they made a burrito and just dumped it on the plate. Not the normal fried eggs, tostada shells, cheese and sauce. I took it back and the girl argued with me and insisted that it was made correctly. She gave me a partial refund, I’m probably not going to return to this location. You could have just admitted it wasn’t made correctly but arguing with a customer is not acceptable.

Look at all the steak! These burritos are massive, loaded with meat all-the-way-through, fresh and fast, definitely worth the price. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. Blows “el super taco” out of the water: more food for the same price.

We have gotten take out here many times and the food is always great. The Horchata is a favorite among my family, it has even been the main reason we have picked this place to get dinner before. We have to buy multiple so everyone can get some.

We first tried tacos del gordo at their truck in woodland park. We lived in Mexico City for two years and have not found tacos that fulfill our cravings like these. More expensive han other Mexican places, but they make up for it in quality and portions. I think I’ll have dinner for about a week

We thought it was a bit pricy at first, but when we got our food, it was worth it! We thought it was going to be just another fast food place, but no. The burritos were huge and the birria tacos were amazing. Fast friendly service and we all devoured our food. Definitely recommend. We brought our 4 kids and they loved it. Disgusting! I had a piece of gravel rock in my beans! I took a bite and crunch my tooth is chipped. I immediately called them and told them and told them they said it probably wasn’t a rock.. . I told them I will drive there now and show them the gross stuff they put in my food.They offered to refund my money. That is the least they could do. Don’t eat here please! Gross Disgusting things from floor end up in your food! That is a rock not meat. So gross! I would even recommend alberttacos of this dirty disgusting gross place!

Tacos el gordo is the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in the springs! I’m from East Los Angeles, and I know authentic food from the taste of the rice texture of the beans’ sweetness of the horchata heat and taste of the salsa Roja and Verde to the best carne asada fries I’ve had in a while!
Try the konga burrito and add some cheese and choice of meat for a huge burrito for about $10 bucks! Try the Buche on some nachos, try the horchata extra ice, and my favorite the carne asada fries! The restaurant staff was super friendly, bilingual, and welcoming. Everything was clean, and service was fast a day accurate. I’ve eaten here before, but I decided to review this place for my +10 million Google Views celebration. Go check them out they also have a drive thru, I’m completing this review with a bunch of pictures of the menu with prices as well!

I just waited in drive through line for what seemed like forever without being greeted. I thought the radio was broken so I pulled through to place a physical order and waited forever again. So I pulled around to stand in line forever with out being greeted again. The radio was working, I can only assume terrible customer service or straight ignorance. As much as food cost these days great customer service should be part of what is payed for… I will not return.

After noticing the rave reviews about Tacos Del Gordo, my wife and I knew this had to be our next stop when we were craving Mexican food.
Well Tacos Del Gordo fit the bill as we were famished after doing lots of weekend manual work. We ordered a lot to try it all out. The order was as follows: 1 – Carne Asada Plate, 1 – Carne Asada Fries, 2 – Grilled Chicken Tacos, 3 – Quesabirria Tacos & 1 – Extra Flour Tortilla
Full disclosure – my wife is very picky on the toppings of either fries or nachos. As a result, we only had carne asada and cheese with the fries. They didn’t skimp on the meat (which is a general theme you’ll see). We shared this entree and couldn’t even finish 1/2 of it. One order is plenty for a family – let alone 2 people.
My wife enjoyed her carne asada plate – especially the tortilla that completed the fixings (rice & beans specifically) nicely.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Quesabirria tacos. The consome that comes with the tacos was a great dipping addition and very flavorful. The diced onions, cilantro & limes on the side were plentiful to say the least.
My favorite entree though was the chicken tacos. They stuff as much grilled chicken as humanly possible on these thin corn tortillas. The flavor the grilled chicken had was elevated for sure. The well-seasoned chicken had a nice soft texture to combine with the gooey cheese and corn tortilla.
The flour tortilla is massive and tastes amazing. Not too starchy and not too greasy – it was just right.
Overall the vibe inside is nice and is very clean. The attention to cleanliness was definitely on display.
For $46, I can’t complain on how flavorful, juicy and tasty these options were. Seeing how close it is to us, this won’t be our last time we stop by.
