Sirloin tacos were good. Tacos rojas were below average; the beef was unseasoned. The beans and chips & salsa were good that they gave to start. The server seemed annoyed that we came in and was incredibly passive aggressive. Skip dining in and stick to the drive thru

Tacos Alex is definitely a solid spot for tacos! I ordered the traditional tacos mixtos, which had a great mix of bistec and tripas. Both the meat and tripe were packed with flavor and really hit the spot. The plate also comes with frijoles a la charra and cebolla asada, which was a nice touch. What stood out the most was the tortillas, super sturdy, so they held up perfectly without needing to be doubled up like at other places. These tortillas can stand on their own!
My friend got the tacos colorados, and they were just as tasty, with a nice crunchy tortilla. The salsa was flavorful, though I like mine a bit spicier. All in all, it’s a great place to grab some tacos. Plus, they sell beer, so if you’re in the mood for tacos with a cold one, this is definitely the place to be!

This place has great-tasting, authentic foods!!! I ordered the sample platter, which contains a little of everything.

The food is your traditional taco restaurant. Staff is very friendly, service is a bit slow. Menu does not display prices , which makes it easier to raise cost on the customer.

In 2022, I took a 25,000 mile road trip to all four corners of the US. The joke was that Brownsville would be the fifth of four corners. On the way there I was tired, hot and hungry, and told myself I wanted tacos and a beer. When I saw the sign on the front of the restaraunt that read “Alex Tacos & Cerveza”, a U-turn was made immediately. I was the only customer in the restaunt, and also the only English speaker in the building (that I encountered). Apparently my Spanish is so bad that the Modelo I ordered was served as a Michelob Ultra Light. That’s ok, because the food was so darn good! Homemade chips were served with a smooth, orange colored salsa, the likes of which I have never seen before and was amazing. I don’t recall the name of my tacos, but they were grilled beef, served with grilled and fresh white onions, cilnatro, lime, and yet another colorful salsa, this one lime green and tasty as can be. (I apologize to my hosts for not knowing the names of their amazing creations, but what’s in a name when it tastes this good?) I live in New Mexico and am no stranger to really good tacos. I have sampled many during two trips around the country on my bike. The best tacos in the nation? I haven’t any better so far!

Sadly, they would rather lose a customer than make things right. The cook messed up my order, and the “manager” in charge refused to change my order or refund me $20. When I placed my order over the phone, I warned the lady who took my order that they had messed up my order previously twice so for her to please double check it was correct. After I picked up my order, I went home to have dinner with my kids only to realize that it was all wrong once again. I called the restaurant to let them know; they admitted that the order had been placed correctly, but the cook messed up. I asked if they could do something about it, and they said they would speak to whoever was in charge and return my call. They never called. I called them back and they hung up on me 3 times. They answered the 4th time; however, they did not care about making a customer happy. They told me that nothing could be done about it.

Excellent wait staff. She was very cheerful and helpful. The bowl of beans were perfectly seasoned. The chips were fresh and the salad was unique. Tripa tacos OMG. I’m so happy to find this jewel of a restaurant.
