The Taco Shack is one of those little hidden gems you’re glad you stopped at. It’s got that small-town, pull-up-and-grab-a-bite kind of charm, but the food tastes like something you’d expect from a full-blown restaurant.
Their tacos are loaded—good meat, fresh toppings, and tater tots. The seasoning is spot on, and you can tell everything is made fresh. The burritos are huge and packed tight, and the homemade salsa has just the right kick without burning your face off.
Service is fast and friendly, even if they’re busy. Prices are fair, portions are generous, and you leave full. It’s the kind of place you stop once and end up stopping every time you’re in the area.
If you ever find yourself passing through, the Taco Shack is definitely worth pulling over for. Great food, no hassle, just a solid Montana taco stop.

I’ve passed by many times heading through town, so I thought I would give it a try. The tots were seasoned well, and fried nicely. My issue is with the tacos. I asked for no taco sauce, but they put it on anyway, in a large amount, that it totally overpowered everything else. The taco itself was mediocre at best, lacking in flavor that left me wanting something else. The staff seemed friendly enough, I just wasn’t into the food.

Affordable and fast, Ave the cashier/server was friendly. The food was bland and kind of half-assed. I get that this is eastern Montana, so I did not expect a California style burrito. I think that would’ve been okay if the thing I did get (a super burrito) was hot, or if at least the ingredients were hot and the cheese melted, on the sadly room temperature tortilla.

I went, and I asked 2 plain bean burritos with nothing on them. I get home. I’m excited to eat. I start eating one of my burritos. I realized it is loaded with cheese, onions, and sauce. And it’s not even bean. It’s beef. I’m still going to eat those. I keep eating, and I get an entire chunk of an onion. Not a slice, not a diced bit a chunk. I am disgusted.

On a road trip from Alabama and looking for something other than fast food and found this place. There are reviews on Yelp that made this place sound terrible, so we wanted to see. They were wrong. It’s it authentic Mexican? Of course not. Who comes to Montana for authentic Mexican? It’s it good food? YES!!! I got a stuffed burrito… Very good! Wife got a taco salad that was good. Quesadillas are really good too. The best part is that they have sweet tea. That meant more to this southern boy than anything! The ladies working were very friendly. I’m glad we stopped here and hope everyone else will too!

The service was amazing. They gave our dogs treats and were super nice by giving compliments. They also made custom orders . Finally, the food was great too.

On our way from Glacier NP to Mpls, we wanted something other than fast food but still fast. This place was delicious with very kind staff. Definitely recommend!

If you want a soggy burrito and absolutely not what you wanted or paid for after driving 13 hours stop on down to your local taco shack.

I had an awesome experience with really great customer service. I was offered extra ice water and had a really great experience in the drive-through even though it takes a little bit longer, I don’t mind that at all personally. But for someone in a real big hurry, they may not want to choose this drive-through. I sent a family member for me a few days prior to my visit though, and they did not have as good of an experience and experienced some quite rude customer service. So, it may be hit and miss but my experience was good! Yummy ranch burrito and potatoes.

Added tip without permission. Had to buy chips for the guacamole and charged us 4.99 for a serving of hard chips. Not friendly at all…
