The food was fresh. The kimchi was delicious. The burrito seemed like it was mostly rice. The tofu was crispy. Spent $70 (+$14 tip) on lunch for a 13-year old, myself, and my older daughter who had one margarita. I even had water.
I had to leave abruptly because my disabled son had an emergency and staff threw a fit because I wasn’t bussing my table. I wouldn’t have left a 20% tip if I knew I would be yelled at for not bussing. No mind it was emergency too. They cod have at least offered a box because I didn’t have time to finish and there were a lot of leftovers.
Rude. Tipping culture and entitlement is way out of hand.
Why leave 20% if you are not served any amenities at app except for the food? There is not even a sign explaining bussing.
First impression is that I would never have fathomed that these disparate food style would blend so well, but everything smells amazing.
First to try is the bbq pineapple salsa. I was expecting a sweet and spicy salsa, and instead got a sweet and slightly tangy one. There is a slight touch of spice, but the flavor is unreal. The pineapple, tomatoes, onions, cilantro and lime all blend pretty much perfectly. Nothing is too overpowering. The palate is pretty perfectly balanced.
I give the pineapple salsa a 1 out of 5 for spiciness, and a solid 3.9 out of 5 for flavor. It was really good, but not very spicy. Not that that is a bad thing.
Next up is the Korean Salsa Roja. This is on the opposite end of the spectrum as the BBQ salsa.
This one is a very creamy salsa. And the heat is definitely there, but it kind of sneaks in from the edges and stays around for a bit, lingering in the back of the throat.
This is essentially a very spicy tomato soup in the best way. You could dip anything in it and it would be delicious and fiery.
This one gets a 3.5 out of 5 for spiciness. Because it sneaks in, but once its there, it hangs around. And a solid 3 out of 5 for flavor. Nothing too surprising, and tastes like a spicy tomato soup.
The shrimp taco is up next. This is a grilled shrimp taco. It’s kind of underwhelming after that really spicy salsa, but it has a very confident flavor profile. Grilled shrimp, sesame dressing, oyster sauce and quest fresco give it a fairly mellow yet still extremely enjoyable flavor.
On to the main event. The beef Birria Ramen. It has spice, it has a delicious umami flavor, it has heat, its got noodles that soak up the flavors perfectly without turning to mush. The beef was super tender and fell apart in my mouth. About halfway through the bowl, I realized there was a lime on the side. Upon the addition of the lime, it elevated the experience a step above most taco or ramen shops. All said, a hearty, delicious meal on its own to say nothing when combined with anything else in this review.
With this being my first experience at this particular establishment, I will most assuredly return for future adventures in flavor.
Over all, I give this place 4 full stars plus a little of another one. (4.2)
Initially what pulled me in was the photos of the Tofu Stew, but then I saw the Bi Bim Bap for $14.99 and decided that was the way to go. It was an excellent choice. It arrived steaming and sizzling in the hot pot. Typically Korean restaurants will charge extra for it to arrive in the hot pot, but this restaurant has one price — and it’s the best price in town for $14.99. appreciatively the proteins, beef chicken or tofu came as part of the price )instead of as the usual additional extra $2 that is too often the case.) The BBB came with three side dishes a.k.a. banchan that included marinated Julienne Daikon (vinegar based and slightly sweet) Mung Bean Sprouts (slightly blanched & seasoned) and kimchi.
The BBB came with the sweet red chile sauce (not that spicy at all) to season to taste. The only thing missing was the sesame oil which was quickly provided upon request.
It was truly a delicious dish — the tastes were blended just right — with enough leftover to take home for a late night snack. Excited to try the other dishes.
There were Mexican Korean dishes too many for me to name but easily was trying because Korean Mexican cuisines are a great pairing.
Try to come just before noon, there are less lines that way. But service was quick and friendly. Self serve for water. And comfortable places to sit
I think the sauces need more flavor and spiciness. They weren’t very salsa tasting.
Overall, it’s more of a 4.3*
I really liked the sauce, it was so good I asked for some extra to take home with my left overs. And they were kind enough to provide it! Very very good.
I also really liked my partners wet burrito when I tried it. It was a made with ginger pulled pork. I wasn’t expecting the flavors to work well together but I enjoyed it a lot!
We tried the bean sprout Kimchi and I’m happy that I did. I’m not very into fermented foods so it was nice to find a version of Kimchi that I could taste without feeling too overwhelmed.
I think we will go back.
The friend who recommended it said he did not like the Ramen though so I don’t believe I will be trying that.
If I had been paying regular price I would have rated the tacos as good, but for the price paid these were excellent. Service was great, and the food came out super fast, but that might have been due to few customers. Bathrooms were very clean.
If you’re price conscious, I highly recommend this place on Tuesdays, and would still recommend it other days of the week.
Would go back if found ourselves in the area, otherwise not solely based on difficulty finding parking (very busy street/area).
